How many recruits do y’all think we’ll actually sign and will there be any more star power

There hasn’t been a ton of star power in our current recruiting class although we have 18 guys already. Are y’all expecting us to be very selective with the the last ones, and how many can we actually take?

It’s starting to scare me a bit that we’re being outbid by other schools whose alumni have deeper pockets than ours.

I really just want

McKinley
Mack
Singleton
Total of 5 Oline.

Doesn’t look great for Simmons and that is unfortunate. But hard to get him.

I personally think recruiting commitments mean less than ever before.

I think there used to be a bigger stigma around decommitting in the past. Whereas now, it happens all the time.

With NIL coming in at the last minute, players seeing how the programs look once we get to mid-season, and just the overall thought process of an 18 year old having a change of heart...who the frick knows what will happen between now and signing day.

Sure, people wanna commit to Texas with all this offseason "they're back" hype. But what happens when they're 4-4 and people are talking about Sark not even being there in a couple years?

So many variables will come into play and more so than ever before when you account for all the new changes in CFB.

Honestly, this year it depends on the service you use. Evans & Callaway are in 5 star reach but 247 has them as 3 stars. Clearly, someone is very wrong.

Totally agree with this, but by a pretty wide margin recruiting is still bigger than the portal in most cases, and likely will be for a long time. Look at us going into 2024. Barring anything unforeseen, the biggest names/leaders are likely to be Maason Smith, Harold Perkins, and Will Campbell, and Nuss.

Imo its beginning to sort of resemble the NFL model of the draft and free agency. You build thru the draft, replace/strengthen core pieces thru free agency, and hopefully land a big name superstar free agent every 3-4 years. Free agency vastly changed the NFL and the portal will do that on a lesser level for CFB.

Trans are built in recruiting high school kids as much anymore. The portal is where the action is going to be. These kids are going to get that big paycheck by signing with shitty programs like Texas and Texas A&M and after their annual 7-5 season they will jump ship to better run programs like LSU for an actual chance at winning.

1000% on the money here brother. Can’t trust until the VERY last second for a chunk of commitments to hold, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see quite a few de-commitments in the coming months. I just assumed Texas is handing out the bags, more so than any hype. Ewers ISN’T that guy, Worthy’s stock has dropped a deal, and Sark is on the verge of being on the hot seat as you said. Let’s not forget theres a much stronger chance of them being a middle tier caliber program in the SEC than a power, when they do arrive. Nonetheless, I trust Kelly and staff to get a class of talent that wants to be aligned and coached to bring LSU a title.
