How big will the meltdown be when we don't finish with a top 5 class?

We won't have the "prettiest" class so to speak but our class is as solid as we've ever had. However, there will be classes ranked above us and I just know the recruitards will be out come Thursday.

I will be a little mad, just because I think our class is second to none

Our in-state talent is crazy good this year

the 2010 class should be indicative that rankings don't mean much. LSU finished 6, 7, 8 in the 3 rankings, but the players from that class contributed as freshmen more than any other class that i can remember.

Only possibility for a meltdown is if La'el or Landry decide to switch to someone else.

This is our best class since 2001, and it may be greater than 2001 when it is all over.

In all honesty, there is not a whole lot of difference between a Top 1 to Top 10 ranking. LSU's coaching staff has done a really good job of filling needs and that is all that matters. Recruiting is not an exact science anyway. I went back about a decade looking at LSU's classes on Rivals the other day and was mildly surprised to see all the 5 star players that did not pan out and all the 3 and 4 star players that had productive careers, many of which are now in the NFL. As long as we're around a Top 10 recruiting class I'm very happy!

agree-----i plan on averaging our class ranking from espn, rivals, scout, 24/7, and maxpreps and the true recruiting analysis will probably fall somewhere in the middle.

there has never been truer words spoken about recruiting. ranking 16 and 17 year olds is iffy at best. if the measureables are there they may be great or they may be a bust. you really can't measure desire, heart, motivation, persaverance (sp) or determination. higher rated classes tend to have better players as a class.

I guess how big the meltdown is will depend on how stupid the fanbase is.

What is there to complain about? Les has gotten all of the top talent in the state. Pulled a few top guys from the region. That's all that anyone can realistically expect for the head man. And that's all any coach has ever done even when we had higher ranked classes. That's really all the coach can control. Recruiting rankings are beauty contests and there's not much Les can do about that.

LSU's recruiting classes mostly revolve on how National Publications view the talent level in Louisiana for any particular year.

If you're a moron, you'll be disappointed.

If you're intelligent and level-headed you will be happy.

Follow those rules of thumb and you'll know what your reaction will be ahead of time.

Thanks for playing.

Scout, Rivals, Espn...they can all rank this class wherever they want to, I dont care if its 8th or 28th, the kids in this class will be head and shoulders above all the other classes when it counts.
