with a small group of guys that played ball together years ago. Now, how are the older guys at aggie, for example, going to treat the incoming frosh when they got much less $$$? The disruption and locker room issues could manifest in many scenarios...any ideas/opinions are welcomed.

Envy is a powerful negative motivator. It's going to be up to coaches to manage it. It will be a big challenge.

I wonder how many kids end up getting paid more than their position coach.

With the way coaches are getting paid these days, I dont think there are many, if any at all that will make more than their position coach.

I think that’s why Jimbo is coming out so vehemently against the idea that they paid these high school guys. He can’t hide it from his other players, because they’ll tell each other, but he will try.

I wonder if the players sign contracts saying they won’t disclose what they are being paid.

Was just talking about this last night. There will be jealousy, resentment, payback, etc. There’s no way in hell you can create a sense of team spirit and camaraderie when you will have such disparity among the haves and have-nots. I don’t see this ending well under the current “guidelines”. There has to be a better way of handling this. I agree that players should be able to profit from their NIL being used. But maybe after they’ve actually earned it on the field for the university. Looking great in high school does not always guarantee it will continue at the collegiate level for a variety of reasons. Are there performance clauses included in these contracts? I’m assuming there must be. But what does that even look like? How does an injury factor in? Is the player given a period of time to get back to the level they were when offered this money? So many questions…
