There's actually been much that has indicated we are/were the leader. He and dad publicly deny a leader but that's just them being coy. The dad in particular was blown away by LSU. Have to read between the lines of what they say and then what the interviewer says afterward. Wiltfong was very pointed in his belief that LSU lead at that time.(January) He wasn't the only one. A lot is said off the record. Wiltfong still believes that LSU could easily go back on top once everything is put together on his next visit with the staff including the new hires. Something gave him strong indicators that we lead. And that was before the UGA/Vandagriff stuff.
I don't see where there's drama at this point. If his recruitment has been drama then every recruitment in the country is drama. He takes visits, is open in interviews without giving too much away, and continues to weigh his options. That's standard operating procedure for recruits.

Another thing in favor of LSU is he says he is still communicating with Joe Burrow.

Just hope everyone realizes that he just had a Clemson profile pic before this. If I had to guess, I would say there will be a penn state pic then an ou pic, and not in that particular order. Kid is just playing the game and it won’t be over till whichever school he picks receives his loi. I do feel like we have a good a chance as the rest

Probably. But as I said if he had to sign today he would be in Purple and gold. But he don’t have to make that decision today. And

Well he is not going to Clemson with the guy they just signed.
So the competition is Penn state and Oklahoma. With Oklahoma having an incumbent starter and LSU with an incumbent starter. Penn State is the toughest.. also the closest.
I know nothing of the Penn State depth chart.

He is a stud who can make a difference with his run game.
Reminds me of Jameis Winston in terms of his measurable and rank. He can be a difference maker in Year 1. Hope O, Slinger, and Linehan can convince him to come over to the bayou!
