So its okay for a 14 year old girl to do whatever she wants with a 14/15/16 year olf boy but if she does thsi with a 18 year old she was to naive to know and he should be punished.

No one says that's ok. They are just saying that the boy in this instance may also not be old enough to make an adult decision and should not be punished for it. There's a massive difference there. No one is saying that 14 y/o's should be sexually active with each other.

What if the 14 year old gets AIDS because of it? It that disruptive enough to punish?

I fail to see why one would have to build a school for every grade. You just did a very acrobatic maneuvar to get to your conclusion.

Its not difficult to see what I am trying to say here. Please try again.

There is a big gap between 14 and 18 years old.

By the age of 18, most people have the reasoning ability to know the consequences of their actions, and know that they can trick or coerce a 14 year old into doing them. The laws also protect retarded adults who commit crimes (mitigating sentences) for this reason. JH is not retarded. He knew he was doing wrong and it was against the law. If not, shame on him.

horseshite! This 14 year old girl didn't get these 18 year old boys in trouble.

I agree, did you not read that I said these kids knew they could get in trouble messing with a 14 yr old and they made a choice to do it?

Are you aware of at what age your decision making ability is fully mature? Hint: Way after 18 my friend.

Cmon man, you, me, and everyone else is quite aware that the decision making abilities of 18 yos is still quite raw.

Is it really so much to ask that 18 y/o's not have sex with 14 y/o's? Is it a given fact that if they have class in the same building, then the 18 y/o has to have sex with a 14 y/o child? Do we now have to keep the teachers in different buildings as well?

This is really really cut and dry. There is a law, JHill knows it, JHill broke it, now he has to pay the consequences. And the law is there for good reason, even if you think it's too stringent in some cases. It's there for a reason. If you think it's ok to sleep with 14 y/o's, then there's no real discussion that's going to take place beyond that.

And are still light years ahead of a 14 year olds. Are you telling me, you think JH had no idea he was doing anything wrong or against the law?

if you want to make it a light misdemeanor i don't think many would argue

this is a felony with sexual registration mandatory

do you think he's a sexual predator?

who, in your opinion, is NOT allowed to sleep with 14 year olds?

No one is arguing with you here. Everyone is well aware that he is guilty of the crime. The discussion is that the law should allow for more flexibility in these things.

And no one is arguing that either. Problem is were dealing with lawyers and prosecuters here. If you make a law too ambiguous, you give the real criminals a way out. Its a hard line to toe.

Lightyears?!? Hardly....

I am telling you that JH most probably didnt contemplate any laws before getting a BJ. You have two kids with raging hormones that have oral sex. That is what happened. If the girl was a couple months older we wouldnt even be having this discussion. Do you believe that in a couple months the girl is magically making good decisions and wouldnt have blew JH and his friend?

If the article replaced 14 with "9th grader" and 18 with "12th grader/senior"
People wouldnt be debating the morality of this whole thing nearly as much (on here) IMO.

actually it's the opposite

if you make it too ambiguous, then people who don't realize they're breaking the law do, and bitch about it
