Recently I saw a list of 40 times from one of the local high schools. I saw a kid with a 4.27. That's just ridiculous and untrue. It also makes you question these ridiculous results reported on lifts in bench press, squat, hang clean, etc. I would like to see laser timed 40's and lifts without a spot plus forcing the kids to use perfect form.

Come on now, LSUSaint. You and I both know velocity is objective.

Mingo, Simon, Ford, Reid, Edwards & Mathieu ran as good, if not better than their HS times.

Lonergan coming out of HS was 288# and had a 4.78sec shuttle time, not 40 yd dash.
He is currently around 305, so he put 15-20# on during college and 4.78 HS 40 is probably a journalistic error on the part of SB Nation.
ETA: SM99 came out of HS weighing anywhere from 230-240. He weighed in out the combine at 262. 25-30# makes a difference when you are at a position that needs speed.

The NFL Combine forty is a mix, the start is hand timed, and the finish is laser.

Lonergan was listed at 288 on Rivals, which means he was more like 260 or so.
Several Tigers had better or very close to their HS times: Reid, Simon, Mingo, Mathieu, Edwards, & Ford
