LSU bias aside. I think we made a mistake. King will have a better career than both Max and TJ.
I just don't think so. If Brady is who I think he is, the two guys we have, have SERIOUS potential enough to destroy LSU record books in passing. Johnson can run too.

I am merely questioning the odds of someone with that kind of size being a championship QB.
Finley is 6’6” or 7” depending on what you read and believe.
There is a QB kid in South Carolina named Trevor Lawrence that is 6’6” that may have some championship potential...

TL is athletic, ripped, and moves incredibly well for someone his size. We can all point to statistical anomalies to make a case for something. The point is, he is big, still growing, and doesn't move real well IMO. I never said he won't do well. I merely said that statistically speaking he doesn't fit the mold.

We will see, not a sure thing by any measure

Wasn't Peyton Manning 6'6 or 6'7?

You guys quoting all these heights are missing the boat. Height is one part of it. Weight is another. Movement is another. And on and on.

Trevor Lawrence ran a 4.78 40 his SR year of HS
TJ ran a 4.8 40 as a JR, no verified time for this year however.
TJ can absolutely move much better than some on here think

His running ability would fit great into our new offense.
This place is unbelievable.
One year its "Im tired of dual threats. We need more pocket passers like Mettenberger"
Then we bring in Brennan who also played against mediocre HS competition who was 170lbs soak & wet, cant win the job, and this board thinks he's "All World" talent.
Now people are knocking Finley who has unbelievable upside, physically gifted, and has a better offer sheet than King and Johnson. Now its "We need a QB thats able to move/run"
You guys will complain about anything that fits your own personal narrative.

I have never in my life heard someone say they didnt recruit a top rated athletic quarterback because they were "too tall". If he was 3* 7'2" and 190# QB then I think you'd maybe have an argument.

Well the difference with the dual threats we used to recruit and haynes king is that haynes is a true dual threat not just someone who is really athletic and has a strong arm with no touch or accuracy. Dude finished 3rd at elite 11.
We’re also running a spread/rpo system now so it’s totally different from les’ basic, bland power i every play. Les’ offense was best equipped to be run by a more pure pocket passer and he just kept getting dual threats that weren’t true dual threats. Hence the reason for a terrible passing game.
Haynes king has 28 offers while finley has 15

Watching Haynes King right now. 2 interceptions and an AWFUL throw to a wide open receiver that landed well short. Not seeing a whole lot thus far. First interception was by a Texas commit.

I hope he throws like this next week versus West Monroe.
They aren't going to allow Longview to run the ball all night. He looks way worse than last season and the ball is wobbly too. No accuracy and poor decision making.
ESPN at halftime are likely embarrassed for having this kid #1

About to do some reassessing

Jamarcus was 6’6” 265 at the combine.

So tired of hearing about this kid. If he was half as good as Barton Simmons thinks he is then Jimbo wouldn't have slow played him until just about every other QB was committed.
Boom

Posted this in the other thread....y’all do the math.....
quote:
It's not just 1 game, he was crap in his first game this year too.
He's thrown 5 picks to 1 TD all season long.
Season stats:
38 for 68, 588 yards, 55.9%, 1 TD, 5 INT
And King is ranked 700 spots ahead of Max Johnson who plays for a crappy team
Max so for is.....
33-for-61 passing, 54%, 424 passing yards, 6 TD, 1 INT
