Haynes KIng - Did LSU make a mistake?

I remember that Haynes King was ours. It was where he wanted to play college ball and we never offered. Now, guess what!
Haynes King - #1 Dual Threat QB for 2020.
Now we will have to face him at A&M for at least 3 years
I hope it doesn't come back to bite us!

Which of the TWO QBs that committed months earlier should they have told to kick rocks?

I don't want to sound like I'm trashing anyone, but I definitely scratch my head at the thought of a 6'8 260 pound QB.

You mean the one who impressed at the elite 11?

I understand. He's talented.
But it's likely he will continue to put on weight/size. What are the statistics on someone that size being a successful division 1 QB that won (or came close to) winning a championship?
Which is why I said, "scratching my head".

Finley is also not 6'8 260
He was 6'6 250 exactly, measured this past summer at the opening finals in June.
Compare that to say Ryan Mallett at the NFL combine in 2011 - who was 6'6 3/4", 253 pounds. Or Brock Osweiler in the 2012 combine who was 6'6 7/8", 242 pounds.

Which one of our QB prospects if 6'8??
I think we should've taken Haynes King, but the coaches felt they were better off staying loyal to the two guys that committed earlier. We shall see. These kids haven't even played their senior seasons yet, let's see how things evolve over the next 3-4 months.
If these rankings for all 3 QBs are still pretty similar in December to where they are now, then I'll be worried.

We tell commits to kick rocks all the time if we can get someone better.

So tired of hearing about this kid. If he was half as good as Barton Simmons thinks he is then Jimbo wouldn't have slow played him until just about every other QB was committed.

The question I have is was LSU already aware of King when they offered the other two QB's? And, if so, do they feel Findley and Johnson were both better than King? I guess we'll never know. In two years, I would hope we celebrate the decision. I believe we messed around with recruiting Travis Etienne who we lost to Clemson. He is a pre-season 1st team all american pick for 2019.

Yes, and the kid is still in high school, and likely still growing. Yes or no?
Don't paint me in the corner that is saying they are unhappy with TJ. I am merely questioning the odds of someone with that kind of size being a championship QB. It's a fair question. I didn't say I'd trade TJ for King either. Honestly, I would have loved to be in the room when they were evaluating this.

It doesn't really matter. This staff and most others are not afraid to part ways with a kid if they don't develop and think the spot could be better filled. Courtland Ford is a prime example.

Yes. Right or wrong they believe the two commits have more upside at the next level than King. LSU verbally offered King on a visit but never really pursued him. At this point it's ancient history and we're going to find out one way or the other.

Simmons creams his shorts over any QB that is even decently mobile.

If JB wouldn't have transferred here, would you have felt the same way?

Man he is 6'5"....at 250 that still not that big considering the height

Yes, Danny fricking Etling outplayed Patterson
Etling 9/13 200 yards 2 TDS
Patterson 10/23 116 0 TDs 3 ints
Now he’s whining at Michigan plus I’m sure Myles Brennan will be great. Idgaf what QB goes against our secondary, it’s his funeral. Just like Manziel.
Finley and Johnson will do great.

All were 4* at the time that the decision was made. Two in the hand or one in the bush.

Maybe yes. Maybe no. Who the eff knows, really? I stopped growing in 10th grade. Some of my friends grew until early 20's.
