Has illegal recruiting used GoFundme yet?

Seems like a perfect fit.

GoFundme set up for sick relative, or unemployed mom, etc. High profile athlete tweets out link and tells people to donate.

Boom, few hundred grand.

Not traceable at all, if you don't want it to be.

Even if it is, so what? Hypothetically, if Sopsher's mother was sick and did have a GoFundMe, are you saying that the NCAA would vet every donor to that fund?

I seriously doubt GoFundMe would let the NCAA have access to the records. Even if they did, it's possible to donate anonymously.

I am sure the people who are cheating are way beyond this. I bet it has been used though.

I think the bag men using cash and leaving no trail will always be the best route.

Gofundme would have card information. IP addresses, proof of “Sick Auntie”, etc.
Plus how would the recruit know who’s paying them the most?

Seems like too much of a mess and information passing through a 3rd party site.

Keep it real, cash. Never leave a trail.

Maybe not straight up cheating, but recruits could just cash out for their personal benefit

The NCAA has no subpoena power over private businesses, so they can ask for data records, but do they get them?

So is it your belief that nothing done on the internet can be anonymous?

Now who is naive?

I’m talking about thinking that you can’t be traced while donating to gofundme

You made it sound like just because publically, it says ‘anonymous’, that they won’t know who donated

If you know what you’re doing, anything can be done anonymously

Hell, if you think you can do anything on the net w/o an IT guy getting to that info is BS.& I'm not talking thru a paper a-hole. My son is a VP w/one of the larger State banks, the head of their IT Dept. He can see anything posted on the net that is unscrambled if he would spend the time to do it. Just because the NCAA can't see doesn't mean it's invisible to everyone.

NCAA allows lesbian to keep GoFundMe dollars

"life changing event" is the precedent.

I've had the same thought. We should start a TD recruiting GoFundMe and vote to elect a bagman.

No, still the most perfect way is to funnel money through Chrysler and Mercedes dealerships.
