True.
The question is do you go after them when they've already been on a college campus or straight of HS?
Straight out of HS to me is very high risk/high reward. Especially in terms of NIL.

Ohio State spent $20,000,000 on their roster this season. LSU has $18,000,000 allocated for this season. The issue is not spending %16 of your budget on 1 player, or %8 on a hs cb. We can get very good and some great players, but LSU will need to learn how to play the NIL game better. Never give your best offer first. Leave room to increase offers if need be. I

Have to agree. In baseball, we offer elite players we essentially know are going to go pro. They often use the allure of playing at LSU to bump up their pro signing bonuses. The way football is going, the coaches need to focus on getting as many 4-stars and high-ceiling 3-stars as possible and see if there is enough $ leftover to get one or two 5-stars but just don’t plan on it.
Sad to say, the realistic model is that we pull ~10 the best plug-and-play juniors from the likes of ULL, ULM, Southern Miss, Tulane, Houston every year. It is better than paying unknown 18 year-olds $250k sight unseen.
