I'm actually kindof hoping Kiel will commit today. That way he will be able to enroll early, learn the playbook over the next couple weeks, and earn the starting job for the BCS NCG. We Will Beat Bama With Keil As Our Starting QB BOOK IT!!!1

wiw, based solely on high school videos....Randall is better than Kiel.
Dare I ask, does size matter?

These were not 5* QBs out of H.S. Mett was as is Keil and yes I do believe he will be given the shot at playing this year even though Mett fully knows the system. It is not totally about knowing the system these days it is about playing time and how educated that QB is and how fast he can pick-up on the Defensive reads.
Some systems are complecated but LSU's is not. He is a Pro-set QB and those systems tend to have the basic same reads. They pick-up the basics and the rest will come with playing time and the KEY BEING how good he can read Defenses not just the basics. That is the #1 thing at getting to start.

what are the top reasons he won't get a shot? Miles seniority policy? pet players? short-side option? naked pictures? Brisket?

dammit Fore, I cant listen to all the conversations going on inside the Tigers' War Room if I'm having to respond to all these posts. I will not let the $2000 I spent at the Spy Exchange go to waste.
.......now if you'll excuse me, this brain wave decoder with ESP boost I picked up at IKEA needs some tweaking

But seriously, if you think a 17 yr old is gonna walk in off the streets and take over at QB for a national champ team with 3 other QBs already in the stable you need to have your head examined.

Let me first mention that in no way, shape, or form that I'm saying I absolutely expect Randall to have a similar career.....
But YouTube Jerrard Randalls highlights and compare them to Robert Griffin IIIs HS highlights. They're both on YouTube. (griffin copperas cove)

Randle is at most 6' and had major problems with accuracy his Sr year in HS.

I don't give him much of a shot because experience and reps are a huge predictor of success at the QB position. The talent disparity has to be pretty big to overcome experience for an incoming freshman QB...although in cases where a team is clearly not going to be competitive you might go with the younger, more talented guy. My point was more about the inevitable "he won't get a shot because of some goofy Miles bullshite hangup on yada, yada, yada" stuff, which you seem to be implying...

That I didn't know. Where did you hear/read that?

I watched Gunner's videos and I must say I was impressed with his ARM, his touch and his awareness. I also noticed he was doing all this greatness against slow white boys. He has all the tools imo just needs time to adjust to life in the SEC and what better coach to have help him adjust than Steve Kragthrope. Hope we land him.

My thinking is in the same lines as this. I love how Les is playing younger players Ala Pete Carroll but damn a great QB in most cases needs time to be groomed. I have seen some true fresh QBs but most have to wait a year or two. I can name you 5 star bust at QB becuase they were rushed In. Now the Randall situation makes it sticky. I have heard nothing about Rivers all year. If anything I think GK is waiting to see if Randall converts to ATH like shep. If so Kiel is air apparent and will be getting time his RS freshman season.
Plus who knows if Mett gets hurt or suspended we need a Qb ready to go.
Based off of depth chart I don't see him committing to us. Based off of every other thing except distance ( which isn't a deal breaker) I see him committing to us.

Let me add that I've read scout boards, rivals boards, Florida high school boards, and Oregon boards.
You're the first time I've ever seen anyone bring up anything about accuracy.

There were several reports from regional guys ab his accuracy throughout his recruitment and even more his Sr year when he struggled. Chad Simmons, Mike Bakas, etc not to mention ponamsky et al saying the same thing ab him this Fall. That's been the main knock on him from the beginning along with size.

Personally, I think It will be hard for Kiel to pass Randle. But thats just me from what I have seen from highlights and what not he seems to have it all and much like prom said earlier the comparison to RG3 I think is a good one as he is QB that is athletic instead of an athlete playing QB.

most hs qbs are playing against defenses where 80-90% of the players won't play college ball.

quote:Totally agree but I could argue some of the passes griffin throws would not be successful at all in the sec. He has a beautiful deep ball but that would almost always be eliminated in the sec. Griffin is good but it is hard to see him translate even in the nfl as a pure passer. Athletically he is of the charts as is randall. Randall I think will do fine in the zone read/option attack I picture us mixing that in his whole career like 07 with perriloux. It adds a different dimension that the defense has to prepare for. It also is an advantage as long as saban remains at bama because of the size he recruits at linebacker. It is a mismatch to Alabama's scheme and in the future Bama appears to be one of the major contenders every year. So conceivably randall will have his role no matter who the starting qb is, it is to much of an advantage against teams like alabama.
