If not Kiel, we'll get Alford. I love Alford's game. Either way, we're getting a baller.

Last thing I heard was that he canceled his Vandy visit last weekend, which seems like a good thing on the surface. He's supposed to visit ND this weekend. If he doesn't make it, it looks real good for us, but still plans on going. There probably won't be much info but rumors, as he's deciding soon.

I believe he should be deciding within the next 2 weeks since he's an EE candidate.

Alford is never playing college football. at least til he fails out of pro baseball

If LSU somehow got Keil, they would be scary lethal on offense in 2-3 years.

he was at Vandy this past weekend.. Attended a bowl bid party.. said "this is awesome!" (because Vandy is going to the toilet bowl?!)
scheduled for ND this weekend - during exam week. The Irish are excited..
Decision in the next couple of weeks... I think Les has been setting the table specifically for Kiel with all his talk about freshman playing time, and I hope it works. Would be an excellent fit.

That's what I've been salivating over. With the defensive talent on this team, and the stable of RBs and WRs, a Gunner Kiel QB for 2 -3 years would solidify this team as a 10 win team for 5 more years

Suppose to have a call from the Staff tonight. I bet there will be an update in the next few days.

He is hard to get a read on. But it wouldn't surprise me if he still picks ND. Distance seems to be a big thing with this guy...one reason he picked Indiana first.

ND definitely has the edge on education, but I think once he visited LSU he realized he could get a quality education here as well. That combined with the game environment is what brought him back to campus.
Obviously LSU has the advantage in quality of the football program. He would likely be the front runner to start in 2 years when Mett leaves, and we will be NC contenders every year. With the talent we currently, having a QB like Keil would bring LSU to amazing heights...and Keil has likely realized that. Obviously ND's future is not so certain.
The only area ND really has an advantage in is location. South Bend is about 6 hours away from Colombus. Baton Rouge is 10 or 11. However, I dont think traveling would be a problem for his parents financially.

all i know is ab chryst leaving nd. not sure ab their depth chart, but could be more favorable than ours. not saying he couldnt easily pass up other guys, but i dont go to practice and dont know how the other two are coming along.

Does he fits ND's scheme well?
I know he seems fairly mobile in his highlight video. He looks like he would fit our scheme like a glove.
I would bet he would be close to starting day 1 at ND, similar to Barkley when he went to USC.
He would have to wait a year or two before he'd be the starter with us. I doubt we red shirt him, so he probably would get a chance to compete with Randle and Rivers for the #2 spot behind Mett. I guess it really depends on what he wants. If location and starting are the two most important things for him, then he'll be at ND. If playing against the nation's top defenses in a pro style offense with high caliber talent around him is what he wants, then he'll be at LSU.

I just don't understand all the talk about Keil or any well qualified recruit "waiting" or "being behind" current team members. Last I checked LSU Football was an open shop... Miles has consistently demonstrated an intent to put the best player he thinks will help LSU win on the field. How many Juniors and Seniors are playing backup to guys like Mathieu, Hilliard, Johnson and the like. Look at how many Freshmen got significant playing time this year. The only thing an LSU recruit needs to do is ask themselves two questions:
1) are you the best?
2) do you want to play for the best?
Others need not apply..

I take that to indicate he's down to 2 - Notre Dame and LSU. They get the last visit - it's close to home, and has a good academic reputation. If he enjoyed the big game atmosphere at LSU and the people, he's coming to Baton Rouge. If he wants to stay closer to home, he's going to South Bend.
Unless I'm reading the situation all wrong (and time is running out on the Gunner Kiel recruitment), it's not any more complicated than that. At this point, I give the edge to Notre Dame, but it may be closer than many of us, on either side of the battle, may think.

He grew up living next to ND and is still having to think about it. LSU all the way. In his mind he knows he never wanted ND.

Serious question, is he Catholic?
