Kiel as a RS sophomore and Randall at a senior which would be QB dominance
Randall is redshirting as we speak. So he'd be a RS Junior.

bad idea, Kiel needs to play in year 1 at LSU. get his feet wet and get speed of game. he won't be around more than 4 years so why waste a year on a redshirt.
This is a silly statement. There's no possible way you can project that he's going to go pro. There are plenty of top rated QBs coming out every year that never go pro, and furthermore never even turn into good college QBs.

So Keil was there for the Arkansas game and is he still there today?

Is it just me or doesn't this all just sound like crazy talk? Hasn't the MadHatter demonstrated that rank has no standing, that is, it will not matter if he is a Freshman but rather whether he is the guy that can win games. Same is true for Mett, Rivers, Randle and anyone else on the team. If Miles teaches them anything it's that there is a place on the field or a place on the bench for each of them, they just have to EARN that place.
We should know soon enough...
Geaux Tigers! Beat Georgia!

His parents and he came for the Akansas game on an unofficial visit, flew home on Saturday, and then returned with his parents for an official visit.

Sure, but QB is a complicated position. Few true freshman are ever ready to play college ball, especially in the SEC at least not full-time. It's best if he redshirts and gets some practice time/playbook learning time before he gets thrown onto the field.

Does anybody know what days Kiel came for his official visit and when he left?

Yeah. I'm no coach, but I think most LSU fans agree that talent-wise, Mett is a better QB than JJ or Lee. Miles felt he needed to sit and learn the system and how we play offense before putting him out there. I'd imagine that's how he'd treat everyone else coming in.

I couldn't agree with you more, but tell that to an incoming rock star freshman who believes he's better than everyone else (and may well be) but hadn't grasped the concept of investing in his future. Truth is they've not lived long enough to know what future is - they all live in the here and now. Seriously, what freshman wouldn't burn his redshirt in a heartbeat to get on the field for just a few snaps(and probably get beat up?!). Heck, Mett may have the best deal of them all- there's a chance he could be one and done. We need a pipeline of one and dones! Kiel would certainly be the prototype. (sorry for the rant)

By reading several sites, it seems that Kiel and family attended the Sat. game, went home to Indiana that night by plane and flew back Tuesday to see game practice. Kragthorpe hosted him according to other websites. He visits Vanderbilt Sat and Notre Dame next week.campus only, no game. He decides within two weeks and is an early entry for January at one of the 3 schools.

Point is he'll have this issue everywhere. There's always competition and if you aren't good enough to play you won't. The best you can tell a kid is that he'll have the opportunity to compete, but you can't make any promises.
I think he understands this. His brother has been through this process. His brother redshirted at IU his freshman year. So I'm sure he realizes there's a very good chance no matter where he goes he may go a year or more without seeing playing time, muchless solid playing time.
But at the end of the day, he doesn't decide if he will redshirt, the coaches do. Even if he chooses ND, he's still likely to RS.

I'm no recruiting expert, but it sure does look like a good sign that he came to the Arky game, and then returned 3 days later.

I wouldn't think much of it. He's an early enrollee. He only has 2-3 more weeks to decide where he wants to go. Waiting so long to decommit from Indiana has him in a huge time crunch to find a place. This is why ND will more than likely be his destination.

I didn't think we had a chance at all with him earlier in the year. Maybe the season we are having has warmed him up to the idea of coming.

anywhoo. are you attempting to argue that players wont play for coach saban because he yells at his players? have you ever played competitive sports before? my god man, coaches yell. gunner kiel was quite high on alabama earlier this year and im sure he was well aware that coach saban screams at his players. this overly sensitive nonsense to coaches yelling is very amusing though.
I have played competitive sports and I have had a good dose of positive and negative reinforcement during my experiences. Nick Saban actually handles himself quite well in the public eye. It's one thing to have high expectations and show tough love but good coaching shouldn't involve dressing down a player in front of the entire team, stadium, and national tv(Pelini) or throwing a player under the bus in a press conference(Kelly).

Kiel won't be a one-and-done at LSU unless he goes to a JUCO first.
