Roy is still on campus A LOT. I’m not ready to concede him. Guillory, I agree. I think Berry is his replacement.

If Guillory pulls the Bama trigger than I think we may get McKinley Jackson back. I don’t think they get both. I don’t think Berry will be in Our class. The west coast recruiting guys pegged him to end up at a lower tier pac 12 school.

McKinley Jackson
This is a name I've been thinking a lot about lately. I see he's dropped a good bit in the rankings and also got a CB for ole miss.
Anyone know what's going on with him? Why the drop? When he was committed to us as a sophomore, I thought he looked unbelievable.
Also, I wonder if we could flip Jayson Jones from Bama. I'm wondering if his recruitment could end up a little like Christian Williams last year...in state kid who committed early then saw Bama take a bunch of higher rated guys and saw the writing on the wall.

Whitefoot, you sure you mean Jayson Jones? He's their highest rated DT...

he def meant Jayson jones and must have figured they recruited over him
also why is the Roy recruiting not going good on lsu s end?
I get that bama is giving guillory the red carpet treatment and telling him he is their number 1

He never grew. He’s been 6’1 330 since his sophomore year of high school.

Jackson’s recruitment reminds me a lot of Dayton Mack’s. Short, squatty guy who had a lot of hype early in high school, but didn’t progress much and has come back to the pack.

Worst part about that lil a-hole going to Bama is he took his LA connections with him

Yeah. That's who I meant. He's been steadily dropping in the rankings and it seems like Bama has a couple of higher rated DT/DE targets.

Still having trouble understanding how we keep losing kids to Bama.
Bama can basically recruit anywhere.
Also why we are having such an struggle with OL/DL the last several years.
It’s mind boggling.

It’s so complex but I believe the main reasons we struggle recruiting up front is because Louisiana just doesn’t produce a lot of big boys to play in the SEC and we haven’t had a great run of putting linemen in the league recently.

Louisiana does produce them, LSU just hasn’t been able to land them.

You mentioned “badly” yet some had non committable offers. We beat them for White, Beckwith, Fournette and Stingley. These are the ones they full court pressed on. They took Robinson, Moses, Buggs, Luther Davis, Jones( we did better with Adams), and managed to take out of state kids that were shoe ins for us, Sartain, Womack, and just this cycle Demouy.
Don't forget Smith and Chris Allen.

The sooner you accept they are gone and we need to replace them with prospects like Apu last year you will be happier for it.
As much as I hate to agree, after Sopsher last year, I'm all in on this.
That's not to say you STOP recruiting Guillory and Roy, but if someone is ready to sign in December that is good enough, take them. Absolutely cannot afford a 2-3 man DL class this year.

Not sure why this was downvoted, Tillery, Willis and Ferguson were All-Americans last year.

I just read that Bama might be looking to move Jones to OL, so if we're offering him a spot at DE, that might be appealing to him.
Also read that Bama thinks they're in good shape for Jordan Burch. Adding Burch and Roy might be too much to keep Jones still "feeling the love".
