I know, I know. ESPN isn't extremely reliable in terms of recruiting rankings, but I found this list interesting, given the fact that almost half of the classes are listed as needing more DL help.
1. Georgia - DL
2. Ohio State - DL
3. Florida - QB
4. Oregon - ILB
5. Bama - RB
6. FSU - DT
7. Michigan - DL
8. Penn State - DL/Edge
9. LSU - DL
10. Tennessee - TE
11. Clemson - RB
12. Notre Dame - OL
13. Texas A&M- DL
14. Miami - DL
15. Oklahoma - DL
16. Texas - DB
17. USC - DL
18. Auburn - OL
19. Stanford - TE
20. Arkansas - DL
21. UCF - OL
22. Wisconsin - Edge
23. Ga. Tech - WR
24. Ole Miss - QB
25. South Carolina - DL

Sorry, no link. This is from ESPN+.

Oregon must be deep if their biggest need is specifically ILB’s and Texas is only team with biggest need being Defensive Backs

Yep...big premium on DL right now. Always the case I guess, but startling to see how it seems to be a pressing, unfulfilled need for so many teams.

For the Miles era, it was definitely OL. With Kelly that won’t be the problem, but DL may be the big challenge.

Makes sense. Kelly will always have an overabundance of OL and skill positions grow on trees around here. Leaves you with QB,LB, and DL that will be the only possible positions of need here under Kelly. We've got a QB committed, and we're good at LB because we will really only play 2 at a time. The jack/edge position and DL are all that's left. I,personally don't know that we're there on DB, but that's because of what we will lose vs. Experience that will be left.

DL looks like a problem for everyone?
Let’s look at the 2018 class.

HEAD COACH ED ORGERON
CB Terrence Alexander (New Orleans, La./John Curtis HS/Stanford)

LB Micah Baskerville ^ (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy)

QB Joe Burrow (The Plains, Ohio/Athens HS/Ohio St.)

WR Ja’Marr Chase (Metairie, La./Archbishop Rummel HS)

DE Jarell Cherry ^ (Dallas, Texas/Carter HS)

LB Damone Clark ^ (Baton Rouge, La./Southern Lab HS)

DT Davin Cotton ^ (Shreveport, La./Evangel Christian Academy)

RB Chris Curry ^ (Lehigh Acres, Fla./Lehigh HS)

DT Chasen Hines ^ (Marshall, Texas/Marshall HS)

WR Jaray Jenkins ^ (Jena, La./Jena HS)

DT Nelson Jenkins III ^ (Plaquemine, La./Plaquemine HS)

WR Kenan Jones ^ (Berwick, La./Berwick HS)

CB Kelvin Joseph (Baton Rouge, La./Scotlandville Magnet HS)

OG Damien Lewis ^ (Canton, Miss./Canton HS/Northwest Mississippi CC)

DT Dominic Livingston ^ (Houston , Texas/Davis HS)

WR Terrace Marshall Jr. ^ (Bossier City, La./Parkway HS)

DE Travez Moore ^ (Bastrop, La./Bastrop HS/Copiah Lincoln CC)

ATH Tae Provens ^ (Gurley, Ala./Madison County HS)

DT Dare Rosenthal ^ (Ferriday, La./Ferriday HS)

ATH Dantrieze Scott ^ (Ferriday, La./Ferriday HS)

TE Zach Sheffer ^ (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Nease HS)

C Cole Smith ^ (Pontotoc, Miss./Pontotoc HS)

PK Cole Tracy ^ (Camarillo, Calif./Newbury Park/HSAssumption College)

OT Badara Traore ^ (Hyde Park, Mass./Matignon HS/ASA College)

OT Cameron Wire ^ (Gonzales, La./East Ascension HS)

Let’s see, Dare, Chasen and Lewis all were on the OL, Dare and Chasen were moved from DL. Right now, Fitz on the team has worked on both sides of the ball.
But when you really look close, only about a dozen players really left somewhat of a mark.
One really stood out. About 5-7 were dependable. That’s a fair amount in a class.
You can go through every class and reranked would be a part of the deciding factor.

What about Tennessee’s being TE? That seems like it would be one of the easiest positions to fill.

The strange one is ND, needing OL. That was one of Kelly strong points.

Texas has 3 top DL committed and going after McKinley. I say if they get McKinley, we go after one of theirs!

We could probably use like 4 DL recruits at least.

DL/DT also seems to have the highest miss/bust rate

Why don't more Big Uglies on the OL get switched over to interior DL? Is it a lack of athleticism or just too big, too slow, not aggressive enough?
