I don’t care what we have to do, but we have to sign this kid. If we don’t get him the board looks bleak and we need someone who can be at least a solid SEC qb. I’m tired of poor qb play holding us back year after year, pay the kid and his fam if you have to but get it done.

Just get a damn qb regardless. Can't believe me didn't sign one this year.. what if Brennan or Narcisse transfer after finding out they didn't get the starting job. We'd be fricked beyond belief if our starter went down. Hopefully we can snag Gunnell and he can start after Brennan gets picked number 1 overall after his junior season.

It would be nice to get a top flight QB that would fit into the system O wants to run . If its a pro style then Gunnell needs to be top priority. In order to sell LSU, to this kid, the offense needs to look good passing to the WR's, TE's, RB's. If our offense looks good this year then theres a good chance we have a shot at him. Another thing to hope for is OK st starts a young QB and he looks great Which is a possibility under gundy.

My God you guys are pussies. We are fine with some very high quality players at qb. No one is going to quit!

We need a QB. It doesn't have to be Gunnell.

Can't ever put yourself in a position where one guy is a "must get." That's giving the recruit too much power. There are other QBs that may not rate as high but may very well end up being better than him with the right coaching. We see it with every class.

We're supposed to have the QB whisperer now for OC so no reason to say one guy is a must get.

Congrats on enjoying 8-5 seasons and horrible qb play. The rest of us don’t.

You're a bitch. You don't enjoy anything but misery. We can't speak for everyone else though. Go kill yourself, please!

I see it slightly different. More like this, plus some other things.

Yes, just get a damn QB regardless. Then...
A) if a QB isn't happy with depth chart or not being 'the guy', as a fricking Sr in HS, too bad. Move on. Leadership is part of it. We haven't had a QB be the leader of a recruiting class since Russell Sheppard.

B) Every QB on roster should get reps. Not equal, but it should be an open competition... period... year round. In the film room, in drills, in the weight room. You only develop players, including QBs, if they are being pushed. Obviously, we have QB development problems. I think this is the, or one of, missing pieces.

This is on the extreme ends of things, and it would cause a furor, but I wouldn't scoff at the idea of naming a starter before each game. I've seen some good coaches over the years do that to 'shock the system'. QB competitions aren't like sodding your lawn, it shouldn't be just a 'spring thing'. It should be like mowing your lawn (in the south), starts early and still doing it when the Bama game comes around.

C) Our scheme, and practices, must match the expectations for these QBs. If we are going to expect our QB to look like a gunslinger, then practice and game plan for him to be a gunslinger. Note I'm only talking about expectations within the coaches. The other way of saying this is don't 'run our offense', run the offense that fits your personnel. And for the record, it doesn't have to be the same all season or all game... you can run RPO for a couple series with Narcisse and then go to 4 wide with Brennen... whatever fits.

Why do you say things like this? I enjoy watching LSU and when they win it's better, of course. But why are pussies like you comfortable with saying our 2 top qb's weren't absolute studs in high school and shouldnt be excellent at this level?

WTF is wrong with you

no, we really don't. it would be disheartening if we don't sign a promising QB this year but it is a MUST get.

we haven't had any of these. that's right you made it up just to shite on LSU; something you do consistently. you, CP3LSU25 should just go and follow another team. I, and thousands of others, would be happier.

It's not illegal to pay recruits. And you're insane if you don't think we've ever done it.

A couple of friends have been to several of the camps, and they say the Fields kid from Metairie consistently outperforms Gunnell. Why is the Fields kid not receiving any SEC offers? I know he is under six feet tall, so that will go against his stock. Anybody have any insight?
