Gold mine of NC State safeties hitting the portal

Tamarcus Cooley (5'11, 205) played nickel and had a PFF grade of 80.8 this season (EXCELLENT player, big time play maker)
Devan Boykin (5'10,195) played mostly FS missed 2024 but in 2023 had a PFF grade of 71.3
Bishop Fitzgerald (6'0, 195) played mostly FS had a PFF grade of 74.3 this season

We’ve killed the portal outside safety which is the most glaring issue. Lock em down!

Cooley is a ballhawk. Bishop is more of a LaRon/Jamal type. Both needed.

No. It's an NCAA rule. The portal closes on Dec 28. The exceptions are if your coach is fired/leaves then it reopens or if you have a later bowl game then its 5 days after the conclusion of your bowl.
For instance. GA lost last night. Their portal is now open for 5 days.

It can take several days for a name to appear in the portal, as a school has two days in which to process the transfer paperwork from the player after receiving same from the player. So, if the player handed in the paperwork prior to the cut-off date, he would still be eligible to transfer even if the school dragged the filing for several days after the cut-off date.
ETA: The actual transfer portal and entrants into same is not disclosed to the public by the NCAA. Any names that appear on the recruiting sites transfer portal lists have been publicly disclosed by the player themselves and/or representatives for said players.
ETA2: All three of Bishop, Boykin and Cooley from NC State appear on the portal list at 247 as of 1/3/25. Although it should be noted that 247 will run with any indication that a player intends to enter the portal.

So how can the spring transfers play? I.E. the people who hit the portal after spring games then play in the fall.

The spring portal opens April 16 and closes April 25.

By your rationale, why would a player who enters the portal during the spring window be ineligible to play the following season?
Both Suggs and Paez signed with LSU out of the spring portal last year and played for the Tigers in the 2024 season.
