Of course, yes. What I meant is that since we were oversigned a couple of kids recently have been asked to greyshirt which is kind of shitty really.

I understand.. I don't have a problem with the grey shirt itself.. But if the Porter situation went down as how it was reported... He got screwed

This was going to happen. How exactly did Porter get screwed? You would be saying this no matter who greyshirted, right?

Yep. Its a no win situation here. Actually, yes there is a winning situation..offer a greyshirt to one of the lesser talented guys and allow him to come in next semester. Oh, thats what we did.

Lets see... EP is sitting in his dorm room..worked out all summer..Then has to pack his stuff.. Not like he had other offers from big time programs to play right?

Yes, no matter who it is..its messed up!!

Like I said..if this was communicated on NSD and he took a chance to stay.. then its on him.. But thats not how its being reported

Isnt it their job to get kids on campus who qualify?
Yes, smartass. It's also their job win championships, but we tend to give praise when they actually do it because it's a hard thing to do.

In case you haven't noticed, many of the best football players in the country are not the best students. There is tension between recruiting the absolute best atheletes and those who will be competant students. It is an acomplishment to recruit a 10 ten class and actually have all the kids arrive on campus. It probably means they passed on some better atheletes because they were grade risks, but still pulled in a top tier class. Not many programs pull that off consistently.

Well smartass... Why do I need to praise someone for doing what they suppose to do.. So should I praise every man who take care of their kids?

So you saying Gore, Ego, and Simon werent at risk? Those 3 deserve the credit.. I have no problems w/ Miles and his recruiting classes.. I expect LSU to have a great year

I know..Just responded to a comment that was made to me..

So all these other players were asked to take a grey shirt before the day they report? Dont have a prob w/ grey shirts, just the timing of this one

i understand that, but i dont know how true that is. All i know is that he hasnt made a decision and i would have loved to have paid for one semester at LSU if that meant the next 7 or 9 were free. or for how ever long he stayed at school.

Its messed up b/c its not as simple as 'he was offered a greyshirt'. He was offered a full ride and was already on campus living in the dorm and on the way to practice one morning they laid it on him. Offering a kid a grayshirt upfront is fine, pulling the rug from under him is not. I realize all/most schools do this but I dont agree with the method, sorry.

Your logic here is supremely terrible. Are you suggesting that you only praise people who do things that they are not paid to do or morally obligated to do? Do you see no distinction between doing something well and doing it poorly? Your argument suggest that no coach or athelete is worthy of praise for exceptional performance. Afterall, they're supposed to win games. Generals are supposed to win wars. CEOs are supposed to drive profits. I suppose that none of those things are praise worthy? Please.

was where DD reported that all of the 2009 recruits are actually eligible to enroll and play at LSU. That seems like a pretty unusual accomplishment these days. Hat's off to the coaching staff to making their scholarship offers count.
minus PORTER....
