Yes. 5* have historically a 50% chance of being drafted which is higher on a % basis than 4 stars and 3 stars. But that means that 17/18 of the annual 34/36 5 stars are a bust. So half of the millions being spent on 5 stars will be wasted. I think the program is looking to build a roster that doesn’t waste boosters money and builds a deep, competitive team.

They didn’t have hard commits when star rankings came out. By the time we had star rankings people were flipping schools.

I hear you and I somewhat agree, however, how many teams did Saban field with a bunch of 3&4 stars that made a difference?none!
He made a living with the best year in and out.
While I acknowledge you get the occasional diamond in the rough, it’s hard to argue with a stacked roster.
Even though you won’t get all of them, never stop recruiting top talent!
