This made me come to another realization. It seems that the top linebackers are produced in the northern portion of the State (particularly the Northeast portion).
It's few and far between. There has never been a real trend where which part of the state produces the best LB. This year the top LBs are in S. La. That doesn't mean that this will be the trend going forward.

Vaughn played 4 years and was on 2 Nat'l championship teams. Played Mike, Will and Sam positions. Played special teams as well.
That's not good enough for you?

It's good and all, but I don't think people would consider him an elite linebacker. He was serviceable and a good, not great college player. I bet you a majority of the LSU fans may have forgotten about him. I'm pretty sure he didn't even make the first or second team all-SEC squads.
Was he even drafted? Did he record a stat in the NFL?

I also don't mean this as a knock on the guy. I'm sure he was a solid player while at LSU. Basically, I can name you a lot of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, defensive linemen, and defensive backs FROM LOUISIANA that are starting and doing great, elite things in college and the NFL. It just seems that there is a significant drop at the linebacker level. I just found that odd because the sheer number of talent and athletes in the state. I think Salmon gave an excellent response.

no doubt, now that we are in the playoffs i have him working on his angles and taking on OL that pop out and try to shield block.

Dylan seems to be a great kid & the two of you obviously have a very special relationship. I admire both of you in every respect & it makes this old LSU fan very proud that you're part of the Tiger family.

Thats awesome for him to work on that a young age. When y'all put brumfield in on the DL i couldn't help but laugh the Center and guards had no chance with him and dylan
Any word on if he's still growing?

Hopefully that DL in front of him will have the OL too tied up to put a hat on him!

I would agree with the general theme of the opening post that when compared to the # of DB's, RB's, WR's and even DL, the state of Louisiana has not produced nearly as many linebackers.
The ones mentioned along with Trev Faulk were at least solid college linebackers, but it seems like LSU has mostly gone out of state to places like Georgia and Alabama to recruit linebackers that were really strong contributors.

Louisiana is just a small state, and usually doesn't 't have the population base to produce top talent at all positions every year. I remember way back when people said that LA didn't and couldn't produce big, quality offensive or defensive linemen. Also remember when LA was a hotbed for QB talent (believe it or not)
It also seems to sometimes run in cycles for some reason. We're good, but way too small to be like Florida, Texas or California.
