General Louisiana linebacker question

Just out of general curiosity, why doesn't the state of Louisiana produce better linebackers? The state does very well on the defensive line and cornerbacks. Louisiana, also, does very well producing some great running backs and receivers. However, I find it rare the state puts out great linebackers. The high school game is very run oriented, correct? You think that would only help in producing tough, physical linebacker play. Louisiana, obviously, is never short in pure athleticism. It just appears to me that the Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and so forth dominate Louisiana (and Mississippi too for that matter) in linebacker quality.
Anyone have an explanation or am I way off base here?
ETA: The last "great" linebacker I can remember from Louisiana and LSU too is Bradie James. Am I forgetting someone? I remember Luke Sanders being highly, highly recruited and he was certainly serviceable, but never lived up to the hype.

When healthy, Derry Beckwith was pretty damn good.

Sometimes that's the case.
Big physical freaks will sometimes play skill positions for their respective team to increase their teams chances of winning. Playing RB, QB is not uncommon for these guys in high school. Also scheme makes a difference.
Look at a guy like Jason Spadoni. Good high school RB. Ended LSU career playing LB.
Bradie James, Cameron Vaughn, Beckwith, to name a few LA products that produced for LSU.

Michael Mauti from Mandeville High has been pretty good at Penn State.

Well, he was never going to LSU imo.

I never realized he was from Louisiana. Normally Pennsylvania and Ohio produce elite linebackers and Penn State doesn't have to travel out of that area. He had family play there, correct?

Denzel Devall is going to be a beast for Alabama

That seems to be the only logical response so far. It makes me think of players like Jeremy Hill, Brandon Jacobs and so forth.

Meh. Bradie James was great, no doubt. The others...ehh.

This made me come to another realization. It seems that the top linebackers are produced in the northern portion of the State (particularly the Northeast portion).

You're laughing but I think this is our most logical answer.

It pretty much is the reason.
Safeties and Cornerbacks are still being put out at a good rate. Wide Receivers too.
The last two classes we've seen a lot of highly rated LB's in Louisiana. They are still young, so who knows if they are going to pan out.
