Chase and Joseph will both be great players for LSU and were big gets. But there's no other way to spin it Orgeron failed to close on our other top targets. Makes it all worse that we basically told guys like Harold Joiner and Justin Watkins who were ready to commit to kick rocks in favor of Surtain and Goodrich neither of which did we land.

There's no excuse for losing Joiner, especially. At one time, it looked like he really wanted to come here. Goodrich is another one they could have had, but put off to go after Foster. This is on Coach O. It's incompetence, no way around it. At this point, I HOPE they can get John Emery or Noah Cain, but don't have much confidence when Saban can swoop in at the 11th hour and with little effort pick up whoever he wants from us.

Agree..... I'm still gonna pull for the Tigers, but O must perform or he'll be gone in 2 years. I just want to stay reputable and competitive at least with the players we have now. If he goes we'll still have a strong base of players to make a new coach feel ok about our situation.

Would we pass on him today? He gambled, and lost. Cam/Travis replay.

As stated, we did not lose Joiner. He would have signed with LSU if the coaches had accepted his commitment. The real screw up was Goodrich. LSU coaches were holding spots for PSJ, Joseph, Chase, and Foster when Goodrich wanted to commit last week. That's when Goodrich decided to sign with Clemson. PSJ screwed us by waiting until the last minute to inform the coaches that he was signing with Bama. Same story, different year. Saban always manages to royally frick us in one way or another.

O has the worse recruiting strategy since Hallman

Right, and it was stupid to do so when O can't even get a full class signed. So signing less than 25 per year is the way to win championships?

When Coach O can't even get 25 recruits to sign up, passing on Joiner was stupidity. Totally agree with you about Goodrich. Putting him off for a vain pursuit of Foster was incompetent when LSU need cornerbacks.

what happen today is the reason LSU is a average program and bama is a elite.I hate bama but until we get over the hump and start beating bama we will always be average.

Well, he obviously thought we was going to sign 25, which would have included several higher rated prospects and possibly a QB when he passed on Joiner, so I fail to see your point.

Truth. Akers/Etienne all over again.

With that said, WELCOME Chase and Joseph! Looking forward to watching you playing for our Tigers.

Joiner really did not look very good in all star games; not a factor at all.

Pursue Noah Cain, but not at the expense of Emery. Tyrion is already on board. Since Noah is not from here, he has to still be considered a strong reach when as you said Saban can swoop in at the 11th hour and say "we play for championships".

The only way to take that away is to beat them. We got the players we need on offense (the side of the ball with the biggest problem). Now we just need an offense that can help this team compete at the highest level of college football.

Today was like watching Coach O deciding to kick a field goal on 4th and inches vs. going for the win. LSU just settles all the time.

Oh? Did he now? All I know is that this is two straight classes Orgeron has failed to sign 25. Seems he has a bit of a problem with the way he counts his chickens before they're hatched.

Yep, no argument there.

If Brennan or Narcisse don't come in and prove they are a lot better than the average to above-average QB's LSU's been getting lately, 2018 will be yet another mediocre year. And my worry is how that is going to affect the 2019 signing class. Success breeds success (as in Alabama) and mediocrity year after year breeds mediocrity.

I imagine even for the coaches that this is fairly hard to predict. Imo, by the information that has been passed around, that up until today the staff thought Surtain was coming. Bama wins too many damn games. They have a built in pitch that's hard to counter without getting your hands dirty. Wont be the last time. Next year might be worse if we don't win.

What's hilarious when it comes to Harold Joiner is we didn't accept his commitment because we had more than a full class, yet we ended up not signing a full class and only signed 23. We had two frickin spots open. Good job again there Ed O.

Coach O has a problem with counting on players he thinks are locks when they're not. This is two straight years he can't sign 25 players. Losing Goodrich because he wanted to go after Foster late is totally unacceptable. I seriously doubt Foster was more than a 25% chance of coming to LSU, while Goodrich at one time was a very real possibility.
