O is turning LSU into a national brand and no longer having the success or failure of his recruiting classes tied to the talent in state. The years the state is great he will get more of them when the state is down, like it is this year, he will go get the players he needs from elsewhere.

Historically when the state is like it is this year LSU has had 8-15 ranked recruiting classes. O has a top 5 class locked up.

Some of these guys will end up good players elsewhere, but we can’t be “too” focused on Louisiana. I’m thrilled that we entered into new recruiting areas for a change and came away with some good players. We want to be able to go get the best in the country, not just 15-20 of the top 30 kids from in state. Now, also believe that sometimes there are diamonds in the rough that really want to be at LSU that will work their butt off to play. Russell Gage was never supposed to be more than a special teams guy, and he’s the third wideout for Atlanta. DJ Chark, Justin Jefferson, and Others come to mind as well. I love pulling some local guys that “want” to be here. However, we need the guys who are the best regardless of where they are from.

Lee - passed / soft offer only I feel like the coaches saw something they didn't like and slowly pulled the offer.

I didn't realize Lee had a serious offer. Should I change him to "processed"?

Up until this season the term "processed" has always been used to describe dropping someone from a team THAT HAD A SCHOLARSHIP. Usually by encouraging him to transfer.
Yeah, in the context of recruiting, I'm using 'processed' to refer to a commit who had a dedicated scholarship offer that was pulled or walked back before he could sign.

Fact is this is LSUs best recruiting class by 247 composite rankings ever. Which is impressive considering this is an average Louisiana class. We had to go out of state.

Looking only at the top 15: many players play the same positions.
4 DL (we took 2 and added 2 more from out of state, with 2 more potential big fish still out there).
3 WR (we took 2 had 2 out of state committed that bailed on ESD).
4 project at Safety (we took 1 top 5 player at position from out of state) additionally LA is deep at S in 2021 which might have been a factor.
1 OL - wanted to leave the state. 1 RB - we recruited and took a higher ranked player. 2 LB - we signed 4 out of state guys and arguably signed our best LB core ever.

We did also sign the highest rated LA QB who is outside the top 15 in state players.

Given the late unfolding Evans saga I think we would have taken Clayton but that ship had sailed. I am good with what we expect to get in the long run. I am just saying if Clayton was willing I believe he would be a tiger

Last year Bama took 4 of their state’s top 15. So? We are competing to be the best in the country, wherever they come from.

The staff saw McKinnley Jackson and Jordan Burch and realized they had a chance to get at least one of these guys.

What does "processed" mean exactly?

How many did they lose to other schools? (asking - I don't know) Passing on a prospect is different than losing them. That's my question. Based on the responses to this thread, I think I'm correct - LSU only 'lost' one in-state prospect, to Georgia.
