Ferguson's leaders are FSU and ND?

I had my fingers crossed for this one. We could use a stud DL like Ferguson.
I thought it was a LSU-Cal battle, but the Miami Herald suggests that his leaders are FSU and ND.
"There is highly-touted defensive tackle Ego Ferguson from Hargrave Military Academy, whose father McDonald played at Miami Edison with UM director of football operations Corey Bell. Florida State and Notre Dame are considered the front runners, though, for the 6-4, 270-pound standout who also has Cal and LSU in the mix. He's supposed to announce his decision Wednesday in New York."

With all of the various reports considered, it's between FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Cal, and LSU. I think he picks either FSU or LSU, and I'm worried.
Again, if players want national exposure, a good chance to win championships, and they aren't considering other SEC schools, LSU is the OBVIOUS choice. If players would rather win between 5-10 games every year and maybe get a chance or two at merely winning their conference, then electing to play in the ACC or Pac 10 or another lesser conference is the way to go. Notre Dame gets as much national exposure as any school, but they don't win.
Winners chose the SEC over schools in other conferences, and those are the players that we want to play football here. We have two National Championships in this decade (tied with UF for most of any school), and we won each of them with two different coaches. Our 2011 signing class is already shaping up to be at least a top 3 class, and those players will be joining a team that's already loaded with talent.
LSU is most likely going to win another Championship over the course of the next 3-5 years - if I were a top-notch recruit contemplating over schools like FSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Cal, and LSU, I would EASILY choose LSU based on winning potential...and women.

2) visited Miami late in the recruiting cycle.......
Gonna be tough to beat.

Haley is supposedly tight with his Dad, is all I know. I cannot say more than that on here. I can say that there is a very mutual respect between the two and Haley has us in a position where we need to be with this kid. It is up to the kid now. It is a tough decision for a 17 or 18 year old to make, especially when they have the type of talent and size he has. This is a life changing decision.
so, saying he is all over the place is not entirely accurate or fair. He has numerous schools he likes and respects. Even mature adults sometimes, faced with several options of what to do are torn about what to do. Give the kid a break. He is doing it the right way and weighing all his options, likes and dislikes and thinking about what is the right fit for him.
Hope he chooses us, and I hope he sees that he can play early here, but with so many coaches telling him what he wants to hear, sometimes a kid will make a decision not based on the real truth of the matter.

New school in the mix for ESPNU 150 DL J.R. Ferguson
Four-star J.R. Ferguson (Frederick, Md./Hargrave) had previously narrowed his list to Miami-FL, Notre Dame, Florida State, LSU and Cal but now has one more program in the mix, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.
The Red Raiders join the party since the hiring of Ferguson's coach at Hargrave, Robert Prunty, has taken the job as the d-line coach on Tommy Tuberville's staff. "That's the twist right there," J.R. Ferguson Sr. said. "They've gotten in the mix late, but since they've hired coach Prunty, they're going after J.R. hard."
"Tonight, we're going to sit down and sort out all the categories we've determined are priorities for him. We're going to get things eliminated and organized tonight. The goal is to come into Wednesday in deciding on where he wants to go. It's the most grueling process, and he still has no clue."

Damn! Good luck to the young man. Sounds like he has the proper person guiding him in his decision making. Someone is getting one heck of a player.
