I bet they sign 24 or 25. There surely will be some more attrition before these recruits ever show up on campus. I bet Miles will be a little gun shy about oversigning with what happened with Eliot Porter.

So we will probably sign 23-25, and won't Fordham count back now? That should put us right at 25 unless I've missed something? Also, are there any academic worries with any of the players? TIA, just trying to get info.

i like ely...what he lacks in height he makes up in intelligence, athleticism, and his ability to win---rivals has him as the 7th ranked QB prospect for a reason---this would be a great pick-up at a position of need----

Fordham won't count back. He was at practice so he is either on scholarship or paying his way as a walk-on this year. Porter will count back if he accepts the greyshirt. If Fordham is a walk-on then we are done with number rearrangements.

Watched him on ESPNU in some 7 on 7 in Oregon. Has the arm to make all the throws and looked like he isn't afraid to make it.

Ok thanks. So is Fordham definitely getting a scholly in January? Or do you think the staff bases it on his performance in the fall and who we may/may not sign in this upcoming class?

I know some are saying he is definetly a walk-on which is probably true but haven't seen an official release of that info yet.

But if is not on scholarship now and he does take one in January I would assume he would have to count back. But I am not positive on that rule.

Raven will get an offer, that's for sure. And when he does, he will commit here. He got pissed at first that he didn't receive an offer at camp even though he was injured, but he has since mellowed out about that. He really wants to come here, he just needs to feel a little love from us first

fordham wont count back. He will also not count against the 85 until he plays in a game.

Ok thanks. I also believe Raven will commit, even if he commits to Ole Piss first.. Do you guys think him committing to the Rebs will be "leverage" for LSU to offer?

I am not as confident as some that Raven will get an offer at least not anytime soon.

So counting Raven, if he does get an offer, that makes 23. And that's counting the two QB's, which honestly I think we will get one of the guys listed and probably another... Maybe Rivers or we can turn Z. Oliver.

Thanks Confederate.Everyone needs some help sometimes. As far as Raven, from what I've been told he has been told that if he performs the way he needs to that he will get an offer. What I've been told could be wrong or could've changed by now but as of last week that was the case. With Jenkins,Turner and Collins commited the coaches could've changed their stance but I was told that Raven is the reason we backed off Ronnie Martin(SC).At least 1 of those guys will play S and Turner may play WR/RB so CB is a need.We are losing Peterson and Eugene(even though he's a S now) and Brooks next year.We need CBs.Very important position. Also one that has a lot of guys not pan out.Got to have good depth because some will adjust to college and some will not.Better to have 7-8 options at that spot.Either way I'm hoping Raven gets his offer.I think he deserves it and would happily take him.

Porter won't count back. If there were room in this class for him to count back he wouldn't need to greyshirt in the first place.

Nah, you would use the number of scholarship players on the current roster which is 82 or 83 not last year's numbers. With the new rule we would not award one year scholarships to walk-ons to stay under the 85 throughout the season and could count back 2011 commits.

So for example if we are at 82 now and stay at that number, we could count 3 back as long as we have 3 early enrollees. Have to enroll early to be eligible to count back. If we are at 83 and stay at that number we could count 2 back if 2 prospects enroll early. etc....

You have to be under both the 85 and the 25 in the Fall for anyone that enrolls in the Spring to count back.
