This is EXACTLY what Miami fans sounded like around 2003-04. "We won in 01 and would've won in 02 if not for the refs. We have the most talent in the nation, just look at how many 1st rounders we've put into the NFL."
Sorry, but Miles = Coker and the slide is almost identical.
Miami and LSU aren't the only teams that have fans that claim that their guys are close to winning - a lot of fans say this year in and year out.
I'm saying this now, because LSU REALLY DOES LOOK CLOSE...again. I say 'again', because we just won in 2007...2004 before that...we're pretty much making it a "Once Every Three Years" thing in Baton Rouge, although I think we may have to wait an extra year this time around.

Two years removed from an MNC? Two years is forever, I guess. You probably were saying the same thing in 2004 and after Saban left.
we are not in the same position.

If you think LSU is going to be in the hunt for the MNC next year, is not thinking clearly. We cant call timeouts
We couldn't manage the game well in '05 with the same HC but that didn't stop us in '07 and we won some really flooky games. With some luck and some better OL play we "could" be in the hunt for a MNC now we will probably win a game we shouldn't and lose a game we shouldn't and miss out to some Big Ten and ACC undefeated teams but we "could" be in the hunt.

Not to everyone...and we haven't been doing a whole lot of that lately anyway.
I understand that, and I think that's absurd. Glory comes from winning - the prospects that choose schools like Miami, Clemson, A&M, and Texas Tech won't be feeling any glory during their college tenure. Them regretting their initial decision to pass on LSU is not enough for me to not care that they're currently choosing other schools over us.
Hasn't anyone learned anything from Joe McKnight's awful decision to leave the state - HE COULD HAVE A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RIGHT NOW, IF HE WOULD'VE JUST NOT SOLD-OUT HIS STATE!
And in regards to us not winning, we would've ended the season with 11 if obvious bad calls hadn't gone against us (2 extra seconds running off after Toliver's knee was down at the 6 in the Ole Miss game and Hitt's bogus personal foul call late in the PSU game while we were marching towards kicking the game winner). In the end, we JUST won in 2007 anyway.

I would have to disagree with the MIAMI is going no where.. i mean they play in a BCS conference and got alot of exposure last year.. not to mention they have alot of history and more titles than a fair share of schools..
but yes, we "should" be out recruiting all of them
You are being deluded by your fan-dom, by your wish for good things to happen for LSU.
"sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you".
1. Year in year out, south Florida has just as good of players in Louisiana and while there are a few big time programs in Florida to dilute the pool Miami can select from, there are also 25 million people in Florida from which to select.
2. Miami has MUCH MUCH better weather in winter.
I am from Lake Charles, Cajun Louisiana.
It sometime SNOWS in Lake Charles.
It never snows in Miami. Even if it is not snowing, for every morning it is 44 degrees in Lake Charles in winter, there is a 76 degree day in Miami that feels like heaven.
Look it up.
3. The ACC is easier to go undefeated in than the SEC (no teams in the ACC this year in top 10 of Rivals, for instance) whereas there are going to be either 5 or 6 from the SEC in the top 10,
and hence a BCS champ game could be thought of as likelier in the ACC. The image of the SEC as the mother of champions works both ways. It looks pretty daunting to some 17/18 yr olds.
4. Worst of all, Miami recruits the middle Atlantic states successfully. There are nearly always BIG Time players from Maryland or DC on Miami's roster.

LSU finished with a better ranking, got a MUCH better bowl game, and was nationally regarded as a better team - all of this with the same ranking (PROVES MY POINT)!
LSU also won the BSC National Championship 2 years before the end of the 2009 regular season.

Lots of fans of different schools feel this same way. You're an LSU fan, so you're gonna be a little biased.
These guys also probably believe that they can be part of something special and start a winning tradition. Just because we have the 2 bcs titles doesn't mean we can just pick and choose who we want.

I think the Big 12 is the second best conference in the country...but choosing A&M or Tech? They would have to be going to the Longhorns or the Sooners for me to see the logic there.

I am biased, but I've mentioned that I can't fault them for choosing schools like Bama, UF, and Texas (and others) - it's ALL about winning.
I understand and actually like the notion that these kids are trying to start something...I just realize that is happens every year and that, most of time, nothing significant is really started. I wish they were smarter.
In regards to our 2 recent titles and picking and choosing who we want, I think that should be the case. Again, winning has become expected at LSU and those expectations are valid. I think other people see that, too, and I think that prospects should come here for that very reason.

Big Fat...we are totally up there with UF and Bama - lost to UF by 10 with their big score coming on a missed call, and we lost to Bama by 9 due to injuries and another bad call (and lost to them the year before in OT).
If a prospect seriously thinks LSU is like an A&M or TT, they're misinformed and pretty damn stupid.

But it does happen. What was Bama or LSU like before Saban arrived? What was USC like before Carroll arrived?
