Once they add the 10th coach we would have room with Dennis taking the DL job. Coach O coaches the OLBs anyway. Add the ST coach in Dennis's spot, then add a QB guru.
The reason is because it's the most important position, a position LSU had been weak in for a while, and we have some great young talent. Bring someone in until LSU can get it moving, at least in the offseason. Ensmingers can focus on the scheme and not worry about the QBs, which would help the offense as a whole IMO. It's important that's really the only reason.
LSU also really needs to get some recruiters out there, in the shadows like bama. Start getting in the ears of players all over the country. If LSU starts winning they will start to listen to them much more. LSU needs to take steps to change what our expectations are. We need to do things a little different.
Or maybe we don't need to send them all over, just keep the best in LA, TX, MS, and then dip into FL, GA, SC area for depth. If I were to send extra recruiters anywhere, it would be GA, SC, NC, and VA area's. The kids that come out of these areas are just on another level most of the time. Send them to the winning programs in the metro areas. Those kids are more advanced football wise. Teams like West Monroe, Evangel, John Curtis, Barbe, and St Thomas More are in the playoffs every year for a reason. Send your people to those type of schools in GA, VA, SC, NC, AL, and FL to get as many star players as possible or for them to find those hidden diamonds.
Go get em O.

I think if LSU makes that move LSU should go hire a QB guru to help with development though, and let Steve focus on the direction of the offense.
Again, this doesn't happen unless your OC has never played or coached the position.
If Ensminger is the OC, which he won't be, he will coach QBs.

We’re adding a tenth assistant starting the first of the year. It’s already been stated by Orgeron that I?t will be the Special Treams Analyst being promoted to full time assistant.

Big programs don't hire DL coaches as their HC either but we did. Just because others don't do it doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you.
We have great young QB talent, let's not let that go by. We don't have to do it forever, just until you feel they are ready and prepared to win championships and continue on a tradition. Start something special.
If Canada is staying then I would continue letting him coach the QBs, he does a pretty good job, and in that situation I would get a WR guru here either in the offseason or altogether in the place of our new WR coach. I didn't see much development over the season from the WRs. There are so many different things we could be doing.
I didn't see double moves until late in the season, and when a team is playing zone or man, our guys need to get better at finding open spaces. A route should be run according to the defense's scheme.
Scheme recognition has to be taught this offseason, and adjusting their routes to find open spaces. I see 2 WRs in the same area and stop on too many occasions. It's not crisp. When we have a QB scrambling these guys have to find a way to get open. It's not that hard. Something has to change in this area of the offense. Lots of time should be spent on the WRs this year. QBs and WRs need to spend time together after practice to work on reading one another. It comes down to good coaching, and then to practice what was taught with each other as often as possible. Leaders need to emerge in this department as well, hopefully the QB.

That's a lame response that doesn't even address the question.
You want the guy calling your offense to be coaching the guy that runs it. Not having the OC coaching the QBs would more of a detriment, than a benefit.
Also, who is the QB guru out there that isn't already an oc?

Idk to me Dennis needs more time and LSU needs a big name there.
We have a big name there... it’s Ed Orgeron.
