I don't know about serious trouble, but Mett will go a long way in showing that QBs can come to LSU, be successful, and utilized well. We just haven't had one in a number of years now

Let's concentrate on who wants to be here:
Kincade, + Connor Mitch.
Also in play:
Cooper Bateman (UT),Riley Ferguson (NC), Connor Feist (TX), Shane McCarley (TX).

Then whoever blows up this Fall. I want a Tx QB, & it helps make inroads in the DFW area.

Chase Litton(?) [Tampa] likes us a lot for '14 but Miami will be tough.

Lets all be real nice to Mr Rivers.

hard to do when the head coach is only interested in the vaunted dual threats who are average at running and throwing

A perception of how LSU runs an offense and handles its QBs has been established under Miles and how he used Lee/JJ. Honestly, why would you want to play QB at LSU after watching the last few years? I'm a diehard LSU fan but I would not consider it if I was a top high school QB.

Now, Les says the offense will change and Mettenberger has the capability to change it. If Les really does change the way we do offense and we let Mettenberger make plays then I believe LSU will begin to turn around that poor but well-deserved perception. We will see...

Also, people need to realize that Krag is just not a recruiter. He is a nice guy, has some QB knowledge, and high school kids will say something nice about him here and there. But the fact is Krag has not landed one big fish in his entire career.

Losing Barrett stings a little. I was told we had him but apparantly not. No shame in losing a qb with his skillset to Meyer.

Imo we are destined to end up with Johnson. That is a disaster. Auburn isn't taking him unless it's as a 2nd qb and we have to weigh whether the risk of him bolting is worth it.

Other candidates

Bateman-extreme longshot
Ferguson-If Bama wants , Bama gets
Mitch-South Carolina leads and we'll have to turn up the heat big time to flip that
Thomas-we have a legit shot but he's a baseball risk
Kincaide-we have to offer

I think it's Johnson that we're gonna get at least at 1st. Then the waiting game for the Auburn offer begins.

We lose 1 guy and the "sky is falling" crew comes back. What a shame.

I'd be majorly suprised if we lose Lacouture but Michigan is rolling and sometimes momentum appears to be real.

We're not getting Heuerman and that has no bearing on the staff. That kid and his family love the midwest and ND/OSU both are in that part of the country. It's been pretty obvious for a while that we were out for him. Follow the crumbs he left behind. None point to LSU. OSU/ND battle. Set his announcement for right after the OSU spring game and just took a 2nd trip to ND Monday. That all says LSU is out if that wasn't clear before which it should have been. Miami is still holding out an inkiling of hope but even they have conceded.

hasn't less been a head coach for more than four years? you think there is more of track record where he didn't use a two qb system or a dual threat qb system than there is of him using such? geeze.

There is but we are not talking about a year or two. We are talking about 4 whole years pretty much when most of these kids probably started getting heavy into football. Give it a year or two and it will be changed.

I really love the way kincade stepped up and rose to the challenge at the nike camp in dallas recently, MVP. Makes me think he could rise to the challenge in a big game. He beat out Tyrone Swoopes, Austin Allen, Cooper Bateman, Kenny Hill and Joshua Dobbs. It's honey-badgerish determination in a QB!

I really want to know who sees something in Johnson to make him such a priority. I'm guessing Kragthorpe is the one leading that charge but I really can not tell what he sees in him. Hopefully, Auburn loses out on some of their higher targets and go after Johnson. He redefines the word "project".

Give me someone like Kincade. Like the other guy said, he rose to the challenge at a camp full of top-tier QBs, including Barrett, and won the MVP and got an invite to the Elite 11. This kid wants to come to LSU, give it to him instead of giving all this attention to Johnson and all that happens is we become "even" with Auburn. Let him miss out on us then. Miles made the comment about Liggins has the chest to come here, well Kincade is showing he has it

Honestly if it wasn't for Mett getting kicked out the program we would be stuck with 2 freshman Qb's this year.

Mett will show other QB's that LSU is the place to be

You hit the nail on the head. Imagine JJ and JL especially if they had those 2 years behind Perrilloux to get ready. Could've been a much different story in particular concerning Lee. He was never the qb he had the potential to be becuase of that freshman year.

Agree GA. I'm beginning to completely go over to the Kincaide side even as the top QB in the class. Wouldn't mind a guy like Thomas as a bonus and hope he makes it to campus. My best bet for a pro style is Ferguson if Bama chooses not to push him. He's got intriguing talent. That or hope someone jumps out at camp that's under the radar.

GA, what are your thoughts on the Richard Benjamin offer with Massington sitting out there practically having to beg for one? Seems we'd rather chase future Gator commits than take the kids that want to be Tigers. That offer definitely kills the notion that the JC kids are the only priority as takes at WR. If they were then ther'd be no reason to offer another wr.
