Winnsboro is not a school and they literally won their district
They played in the weakest division in 4A. They played several Class A teams and barely beat a perennial joke West Ouachita team by 2 points.
The only reason a kid hasn’t gone to camps by his senior year is because he hasn’t been invited to any. His next best offer is LA Tech and there’s a reason for that. We offer a QB and will try to make him a DB while we let a 3 year proven commodity (Juju Burns) at DB walk to UNC. Terrible

I know we recruited him for a skill position, but if we strike out on other QBs this cycle, perhaps he starts his career here?

Monroe, relax.
In HS the best athlete almost always play QB. This transition happens all of the time. See Corey Webster. Corey even arrived to LSU as a WR, if I remember correctly. After landing at CB, the rest is history.
Corey Raymond has made this transition with many kids. He knows what he likes and what traits he looks for. While recruiting is an inexact science, and you may be right, don;’t be so adamant about which kid “should” be the bigger recruit.
edit: 30 lbs on Ross……holy shite!!

Great addition.
Expecting Franklin Parish to contend for the D2 title.
Ellis is a threat to score at any time. He broke off a 99-yarder vs. Calvary Baptist.

Dez has a teammate that is a 6’5” 250 Edge rusher named Chris Addison. I’ve seen both play in person and Chris could be a star after a year or two in BR. Hopefully Chris will commit now that Dez has. Both helped FP win a few playoff games last year before losing in the semifinals.

Pat White was committed to LSU before he went to WVU???
Never knew that
As a WR. I dont remember if he was highly rated
But to be fair he would have never made it as a QB under Jimbo's offense.
He was the perfect QB for RR along with Slaton and Devine

We get it, you’re mad that the Neville kid didn’t get offered and Ellis did. You can talk bad about his team, but no one cares about their high school teams records, means nothing in recruiting.

I think you're overreacting. LSU needs to do better at scouting players falling through cracks. There's tons of players in Louisiana who fall through cracks and end up studs.
Looking at it from this perspective, it also helps considerably on budget because they're not going to demand high NIL dollars until they hit stardom. It's absolutely worth the risk. You need depth guys to fill a roster out and at the same time you may hit a homerun. I fail to see the problem here.
Isn't the roster limit at 105 now? You have to put guys like this in for depth that could develop into stars. Something has to give you can't have massive roster retention every single year through the portal. It absolutely guts team chemistry and someone like this is far more likely to hang around than a 5* who needs development but decides to leave anyway because 50 universities are offering higher paydays.
Better to get the guy on the roster now than wait for him to tear it up somewhere else and LSU come calling with big NIL dollars to bring him home.

I’m more upset that Kelly and staff have paid so little attention to NE LA this cycle. There’s a stud DL from Ouachita committed to Texas that barely even spoke to anyone at LSU. It’s odd to me that they are offering players out of position while letting proven talent walk without even a visit. I see Juju every day and he’s a much better all around safety than Hootie Jones was at this point. I know that only 2 or 3 of you even have a clue who Juju is but we are missing out on this one.

At this point of the cycle we shouldn’t be recruiting for depth guys. And I never said anything about a pay day. I would just like to see us solidify the class before we go offering guys as an athlete that’s best offer to date is LA Tech.
I may have been too harsh about FP’s team last year. They had a large turn around that has been in the making for years. I think Dez was first team all-state QB and their DE was honorable mention. It’s been a long time since FP has had that.

Great way to not answer the question you cited.

Hope he plays QB here. If rich rod thinks he can play QB then he could be an all timer.
