I don't know the family but I get the feeling the kid is overly sheltered and the dad is a bit of a control freak. I really don't get the Dayton choice though. Good luck to him, regardless.

I think he just partied too much at LSU, and his Dad wanted him at a place where he wouldnt be surrounded by kids he went to HS with that dont play sports that are like "come to this party with us" every night.

But he shouldve left that decision up to his son

I don't give a shite. He is a home grown boy who had a little too much fun at LSU. Good luck MD give em hell in Dayton, it might be a good fit. I thought he should have given IU a shot.

Alabama plays at Dayton this year, but I assume they'll make a return trip to TTown the year after so Derenbecker will play another game in Coleman Coliseum if anyone cared

The stories do not match, and it was evident when NOLA reported the scenario......First he withdrew; then he and TJ told their story; then TJ gave him a release (interesting huh?); then the dad talked about how he would take a year off; then he comes right back and talks about Tulane (wink wink); then he pops up at Dayton!

Maybe Tulane had heard about his nightly exploits and said, "No thanks."

Derenbecker can get hot at times, but the fact is that he really isn't that good of a player, particularly on defense. I can remember seeing Derenbecker and Ludwig play against Jesuit and getting beat. The best player on the court was the Scelfo kid from Jesuit. The whole Derenbecker transfer story was a sham; sounds like "Daddy" is running the show and shopping his "superstar" son.

If he couldn't stay sober at LSU, it won't be any easier at Dayton. It's a pretty big party school as well.

What is hilariously overlooked; he pulled the exact same scenario in high school:
Played and Started his freshman year at a large 5A program (Ponchatoula), out of nowhere with no real explanation he transfers to a 1A program (Country Day).

Ponchy=LSU
CD=Dayton

Yes, and played college at Vandy.

So in response to his son's inability to be away from home in an environment requiring personal responsibility and maturity, he allows his son to go to school in Dayton, Ohio?

Some guy was posting in the thread on the rant about Matt would still be at LSU, if they would have fired Trent. He said some other stuff, but forgot exactly what he said.

Fair enough. I was disappointed when he wasn't fired. That said, Matt can shove that up his arse. If he is that much of a Prima Dona, I'm glad he's gone. Oh, and his dad smells like vaseline and cigarette butts.

I can't be mad if he left just because he didn't like Trent but the BS from him and his dad is what makes me lose respect for them.
