Not for the highest tier high school kids
#12 overall pick in last year's draft received over $4,000,000 to sign.
A guy considered the top overall prep prospect would realistically be slated to be picked in that area of the MLB Draft.

Looks like he may already have a Nike deal

Would be awesome but I wouldn’t hold your breath he makes it to campus.
But jay johnson is obviously recruiting his arse off though. Future is bright.

It’s a balancing act. Life in the minors is shite, even with a $4M signing bonus. I don’t think it’s unrealistic for the top players in the country to make $500k a year on NIL deals. You can play college and live well with a fat bank account, or spend a longer amount of time in the minors, live like shite, and still have a fat bank account. I think NIL changes the game in baseball more so than any other sport.

The only ones that would likely come to college are the ones that already have plenty of money and the parents would prefer them go get their degree and the kid wants to have that college experience.
I don’t care who you are though, family money or not, passing up over 2 million bucks is one tough decision. But if your family is already comfortable, paying for everything to let you live comfortably, 2 million isn’t a game changer for you.

How much do you think NIL will play in helping getting these players to campus instead of entering the draft? Those that were on the fence and just took the money, could decide to go to school now and still get paid.
