According to Dandy Don Wide receiver DeAngelo Benton will also be enrolling at LSU in January or June, depending on how soon the NCAA clearing house declares him to enroll at LSU. He completed all his paperwork and has sent it in. How good can this guy really be at LSU? I'm asking this because I've never seen him play.

According to Rivals rated 6.1 5* last year. Tied with Patrick Peterson for highest ranking from our commits. At 6-3 200 lbs. 4.5 40. i think he will be just fine.

Not that it really matters, but he was actually a 6.0 4 star

Go to Rivals and look at the 2008 signing class.

he will be LSU's Julio Jones and AJ Green rolled into one. He's really good.

This guy is a serious vertcial threat with great size, a physical style and outstanding hands. Benton is a crisp route-runner, stabs and shows burst out of the break. He's a physical receiver that uses his body well when it comes to shielding defenders from the ball. He is instinctive and shows natural playmaking skills. He's a nice athlete with good initial burst and quickness for a tall player. Possesses excellent speed and is a playmaker in the vertical passing game. Gets on top of defenders in a hurry. Times his jumps well and displays very good leaping ability. Wins more than his share of jump balls and displays excellent body control and awareness when working the sideline. He is a strong and aggressive receiver who will not back down in a one-on-one matchup. Serious red-zone target. He possesses big hands and long arms and shows flashes of being able to make the difficult catch. Shows good initial burst up the field after the catch and a decent second-gear when he gets into space. Possesses good size and strength to sustain blocks when in position. He is pretty polished at this stage and has big upside to become a playmaker early on in college. He is not always as fluid as some others and can be a bit herky-jerky in his movements. Overall, Benton could be special and has all the measurables you want in today's receiver.

i've seen him play a few times and can honestly say he's the best high school WR I've ever seen. He uses his hands well, blocks well, can go get the ball at its highest point, etc... He can do it all!!! He is very much like Chad Johnson in his routes and size and speed

he was a better WR than Randle in HS and that is saying a lot

How can you even make a comparison when Randle played QB pretty much exclusively his senior year?

Went to high school with him and saw him play every friday night. One word.. BEAST. Think Dwayne Bowe clone .. physically. Very good hands. Good speed. Was #41 in the country coming out of high school. Will be VERY GOOD.
