Great news but CBK did a lot of talking recently about getting Louisiana kids. I know he recruited nationally for ND but shouldn’t need to do that here. I have bad visions of Ricks in my head.

Let me make sure I have this straight. We shouldn't have offered Austin because:

a) He's not an in-state kid and thus LSU will be able to compete against the other SEC powers with ONLY Louisiana athletes.

b) He may end up like Ricks did.

Thank God you're not the head coach.

I mean it’s good, but to play devils advocate, all recruits say this cliche line.

Gotta take it with grain of salt.

I’m guessing the way he said that , that there’s a team outside the top ten that has a higher average but less recruits?

There are only 2 teams that have a higher average than we do

USC just got another commit today...

USC at #8 with 7 commits - 94.24 average

Bama at #37 with 3 commits - 94.95 average

We're right there with USC, & Bama only has 3 commits. There are about 5-6 other teams that we'll be fighting against for the top classes.

This will be be a top 10 class easily. Hopefully top 3.

I am ecstatic to have Austin, but history has taught us more than not California commitments don't end up on campus. That's not saying something just to say it and see if it sticks. Plenty of examples out the to support it.

If he is not an EE these statements concern me.

quote:

“I still plan to take all five and LSU is ok with that,” Austin said. “I made sure to tell them I wanted to do that and they said that was fine and I’m definitely going to be using one of the visits to go to LSU on a game weekend.

“I still have Michigan State and Penn State locked in so I have two more spots. It’s not about making sure LSU is the best fit, I already know it is. I just want to take the trips for the experience and to have something to compare but LSU is home for me and I’m very excited about my decision.”

If he is going to take all of his visits and not be an EE, the 1st Wednesday in February is a long way off. But for now Ill be happy and just sleep with one eye open for now.

Us and 130 other schools want to be #1. We will be in top 5 or 6 I think.

I'm thinking we take a DB class of 4 CB's and 3 safety's due to needs after 2022. A class of Kylin Jackson or Derek Williams, Michael Daugherty, Ryan Yaites at safety to go with Curley Reed, Jordan Matthews, Daylen Austin, and Christian Gray would be outstanding.

I hope so. Austin, Gray, Jordan Matthews, and Curly Reed to go along with the safeties already on board would be a solid db haul. With some luck, get Derek Williams to stay home.
