College sports suck now!

quote:Exactly. Only difference was Nix playing weaker competition on a way better team. Troy Franklin was the #41 overall recruit a few years back. That scheme change helped him immensely. That OL has been loaded since he got there. Complete difference running from his life at Auburn.
Auburn developed that dude. You gotta be trolling or something. Really comparing lsu and Oregon in terms of putting dudes in the league?
Oregon didn't develop him, but i will say they allowed him to showcase his talents. A freshman QB going there won't be the same thing.

Bribing kids with a challenger and making 1.3 million dollar offers aren’t the same.
It’s cute that you think that’s all they were getting. I know for a fact we paid Fournette 600k upfront. But you keep believing what you want.

Well Moscona is a moron so there is that. Moscona was all for all of this, of course he also said that nobody was going to be paying a million dollars for a 17 year old high school kid.

Phil knight is throwing unlimited money. I have a feeling this will end up being a case study on how not to do NIL.

Yall remember all of this next time you're buying anything Nike. I quit buying Nike years ago.

Yea me too. There’s absolutely zero illusion that it’s anything but pro sports now and I’m rapidly losing interest in it. I guess the mosconas of the world are happy but this is gonna kill the interest for many people
I was scoffing at this mentality a year ago, I always felt players should be paid SOMETHING, but that was before I saw some of the numbers these dudes were getting, Oregon giving a SKILL PLAYER 1.3 million a year? It’s going to just be a pro league. I’ve been an LSU fan all my life and haven’t lost interest yet but if I think about it too much I start thinking I might as well watch the Saints. At least those are grown men and not mercenaries masquerading as students.
There will be a salary cap at some point but when schools are able to pay 1.3 million to a kid who’s never played a down in college before, that’s absurd.

I still think this is going to be true eventually. It’s less about their age and more about the fact that they’ve never played a down. The southern schools don’t have PAC 12 money if I’m not mistaken, for the most part. But the SEC is the bigger TV draw. If SEC schools run out of money, the NCAA will step in. I went to USCw for my masters. They don’t take college football seriously even a little bit. I’ve walked on campus on Saturdays where you couldn’t even tell there was a football game that day.

Well so far it has never been about the money for this kid, it don’t matter who‘s offering it. Underwood is a big picture kid he is looking forward to being developed and educated on the QB position by our coaching staff. Right now we three commitments that I know of that are not driving by the NIL bag, Underwood, Berry and Shanklin, so take that for what it’s worth.
