1st let me state that I believe John Thomas is a better prospect than Dillon Gordon. That said how Gordon goes from a top 250 guy,4* and ahead of Thomas to a 3* and below Thomas when Thomas was out all year with an injury is completely unreal to me. What the hell happened for Perroni(more on him later) to drop him that far? I don't get it at all. Gordon's film shows exactly what he is. A blocking TE, with good hands and better athletic ability than you'd think. Imo a high 3* so I have no argument with where's ranked all in all just a question as to how the ranking came about based on the earlier rankings.

Fiest is another story.Why have him ranked as a DE all year when it was obvious that he wasn't going to play DE in college. It hasn't been some debate or secret. Rivals(Perroni) knew that already but is just now evaluating Fiest as a LB prospect? It makes no sense. I read every Rivals chat just to see the hypocritical stances and reasons they give for their newest rankings. Most of it is completely laughable. Fiest was playing true LB for the 1st time at the UA game so it wasn't completely unexpected that he wouldn't look natural doing so. The people I trust who saw him that week were impressed with how he looked especially considering he is new to the position. His speed is good and he moves well laterally. From his film you can see that he will stick his head in and make a tackle. Just a bogus excuse by Rivals.

That Perroni guy is a hack. He does a poor job evaluating LA talent and rarely even goes to see the kids in person. He is a Texas guy that focuses purely on those kids. Trust nothing he says about LA kids.Nothing.

247 is young in it's development but is the best place for LA rankings. Barton Simmons has always been very good at getting to LA to scout kids and always makes a point to make sure the kids get their due. You don't have to agree with their top 247 list but just know that our LA kids will get their just due on that site. Other than Sonny and Mike Coppage,who's living is based on evaluating LA kids, Barton is the best in the business at properly evaluating LA kids. He is a national analyst and carries weight over there and will miss on some kids because he has other duties but at least he makes a concerted effort to get the LA kids their just desserts.

Stars is bullshite to a certain extent...until you get classes like Bama. Loaded with bluechip prospects. Saban is now putting at least 3 1st round picks in the NFL every year. Do you think all star ratings are overrated? He may put a record amount of players in the 1st round this year and people still don't think elite blue chip players is warranted? They're ranked high for a reason.

Depends on the site. Bama was 8 on scout last year. It's all subjective and the line from 1 to 10 is small if anything. Recruiting is just part of the equation along with development and scheme. Top 10 gives you the talent to develop and scheme around. The most consistent rankings for LSU fans should be scout then 247 because of what Lsufanva said. Rivals is becoming a joke like Espn.
