This guy averages 34 yards per punt last season and he's listed as the #1 punter? What am I missing?

Helton also had a very low average his last yr in JUCO but was booming punts at kicking camps.

And then averaged 40 yards per last year. Like I said, I hope he is more then a practice kicker.

I wonder how hard you rush a mobile QB/Punter when he punts. I think the D will be in Max/Protect, alot!

How many scholarship kickers does that make for us?

if he's the real deal then he will be worth every penny of his scholarship...good kickers are essential to winning football. great kickers are weapons that indirectly put a lot of points on the board.

Sure, but look at the net punting (punting average minus return yardage). It was excellent. We gave up barely 100 yards all year in the return game.

I hate that Wing couldn't make it because he would have counted to last years class. Now that we absolutely have to have a punter I'm excited that we got the best available.

He carries the ball like Jamarcus used to holding it way out from his body and trying to do a swim move on defenders. 55 seconds... awesome.

It seems he has a decent foot. But most interesting advantage of Bolts that everyone is forgetting about is that he was a QB and can seem to run at least half-way decently.

This means that he would be a steal for punt-fake's and Fake Field goals. His QB skills would be great for a fake pass and his scrambling skills for short yardage gain during critical fake-punts would be immense. Kinda like the fake- field goal and fake punting situations we were successful with in the 2007 season.

I was waiting for this. Punter and kicker can be considered needs for this team. Welcome aboard Botts. We like our kickers here at LSU.

I cant find a profile on him, where is he ranked the #1 punter? And 34 yards average has to be a mistake.

He plays a little qb too, so look for Les to use him on allot of Fakes

Ranked #1 at some dudes camp that noone heard of before yesterday.

I hope he pans out. But I sure hate to fill a spot in this class with a JUCO punter.

It's good to have a Dalton to go along with a Hilliard.
