John King is his dad and the head football coach at Longview. His dad grew up in north Louisiana and coached at Ouachita before leaving with Pat Collins to be the OC at Longview. So, he still has family in Louisiana.

This is a key factor moving forward.

I'm not claiming to be this great judge of talent but this Haynes King kid has it all. A good delivery, release looked good, seemed to have plenty of arm strength, and can run like a deer. I did notice that he threw it from different places like almost underhanded at one point. I don't know the significance of that or if there is any.

I noticed a couple of throws looked like he shotput it. I think it's just something he needs to work on having a more consistent motion/delivery and that may also come as he fills out his frame more.

I would still probably rate him slightly higher than the two we have in our class, but a combo of any of those three and I'm good

There's a ton of rush LB prospects I love and he's one of them.

I saw some videos of Courtland Ford our OT commit dominating him in 1 on 1 reps. Impressive winning in those drills on offense.

Again, I'm not claiming any skills judging talent but King seemed like he was in a completely different class than the other two.

QB Haynes King who got a CB for us by the writer of the article and lead TX expert on 247[/quote

CB for a 3rd QB prospect for 2020? That’s a head scratcher... Article reads as follows:
[quote]his leadership and accuracy took over at times. King is one of the top 2020 QB's in Texas and owns almost 20 offers nationwide. He's fresh off a 16-0 season that saw him lead Longview to the Texas Class 6A Division II state crown.

We'd be losing one of the current QB commits if he comes here.

That makes more sense... and caught that after reading through the rest of the thread. Thanks

He'd replace one. The conundrum is what is our path if both are committed still and King is ready to shut it down? I'm sure that part is being discussed with King and his family, or I would hope so if the staff feels he's our guy. Gonna be interesting to watch play out.

TJ Finley looks way better than King and Johnson when he throw at the big time camps. I just don't see them starting over Finley. The kid is 6'6 with a rocket arm and to me looks like he has been getting better and better with his accuracy and touch passes.

Key word is camps. King is a gamer. Everyone can look amazing without pads.

Camps and people get mesmerized by arm strength.

When have you seen King or Johnson at a camp, let alone next to Finley?

Finley has a live arm. As of right now that's all I see that sets him apart. King just seems like a different kind of player. I think he's ahead of the others by quite a bit.

Or every spring and fall camp. All we ever heard was that he looked great.

Exactly right. Just trying to let everyone know King plays big time TXHSFB and is a student of the game. If he ends up with LSU he will get the Brennan treatments being too skinny

Guys, I want Haynes King and I want him badly.

Good arm strength - check
Great frame/height - check
Great athlete - check
Coach's son - check
Winner - check

Send Johnson packing and bring in King and Finley to battle it out.
