I haven’t looked at plus minus for that team. Probably won’t revisit. +/- is reflection of overall defense imo. Just don’t feel like I can argue good or bad for +/- unless the numbers are in front of me

It's not great for year to year comparison but it can still expose someone if they are a 1 trick pony defensively like just being a shot blocker. Have to remember Mickey had ridiculously huge wingspan and that helps defensively a ton, think while he was just over 6'7 or so he had like a 7'3 wingspan.

No one can disagree with what you wrote and be correct at the same time. It would violate the law of non-contradiction.

The best LSU example of this would be Jordan Mickey. He was an excellent shot blocker, especially for his size, but he had plenty of room to grow on defense because sometimes he would go for the block instead of going straight up to contest.

Mickey averaged more blocks than Bigby Williams but I would much rather have Kavell because of his ability to play team defense and alter shots. If Cisse can be the defensive presence that Kavell was, we would have a chance to be extremely special.

KBW's +/- in his only year at LSU was 2.9

Mickey's was 3.6

KBW's defensive win share was 1.2

Mickey's was 2.6

Mickey also had a higher steal % than KBW.

Surprisingly, the only advanced defensive where KBW out performed Mickey was in block %

While not a perfect apples to apples comparison, teams shot almost 6% better from 2 pt range vs LSU in KBW's only season (49.4%) than they did in Mickey's final season (44.0%).

Take those numbers how you will
