And all three of those kicks were made by a walk-on from Louisiana.
Alleman was a solid PK for LSU. Until he got the yips late last year, Delahoussaye (another walk-on) was on pace to be one of the best PKs at LSU. He started his career something like 18/19. The guy who subbed in for Dleahoussaye when he hit a bit of a skid, you guessed it, another Louisiana walk-on. Hell, Colt David may have even been a walk-on IIRC. Josh Jasper was the only Kicker signed out of HS that actually did anything at LSU in recent memory
No question that kicking is an important part of the game. Especially when you have an offense like LSU's that can sometimes struggle to put the ball in the endzone But sorry, I fail to understand why LSU continues to sign kickers when they've been just fine with walk-on's

quote:Came here to post this. An elite kicker can have a bigger impact throughout the course of his career than any other position except maybe punter and quarterback. A.) they're almost always ready to play as freshmen, B.) there's no real risk of injury even though they can be 3-4 year starters, C.) they can put up more points individually than any other player on the team, and D.) they can help you dominate the battle of field position. What's the point of having a bunch of 5* defensive backs, linebackers, and DE's if they have to start every drive backed up against the 50 yard line because your kicker sucks?
Are you really that fricking stupid? #4 kicker in the nation.
Games are won and lost with kickers.
This is as big of a prospect as we're going to pull in this class IMO, I know that most people want to bitch because it's not a "star" position but I'm super excited to have a top kicker finally commit to LSU

Hopefully it isn't too late for the staff to pull his scholarship, because taking a good kicker in this class will ruin it and set us back a year.

Great pick up LSU!
Way to totally miss my point. You can sign the No. 4 kicker in the country all you want but he is still a low three star. Hence it hurts your recruiting ranks despite it being a good signing. Merely pointing out a flaw in the recruiting ranking system.

Said the same about Gamble.

Looks great but he isn't Australian. What gives?

Gamble must be on his way out.
Domingue: Junior
Delahoussaye: Junior
Pfau: RSF
Gamble: Sophomore
We could have 5 PKs on the roster next season.

This certainly makes up for yesterday
NO IT DOESNT....
happy for this kid though, and the way we play good fg kicking is needed. Great news!

Gamble ain't going nowhere. He has a scholly! Gamble has a strong leg also! I just don't understand having all those kickers.

We may have a few more available for kickers if we can't convince our position of need to sign here. Besides, we are always in the market for signing a half dozen kickers every year. What else would we do with these extra scholly's? Just tells me that we aren't getting the people we hoped to get.

On roster would be fine, but occupying a scholarship, especially all of them, is not good if they can't play DL or LB.

Welcome to the Tiger Nation, Connor.
Always glad to have a kicker---quite a resume.
Thanks for choosing LSU.

I agree completely. If he's as good as advertised, I'm glad he's decided to be a Tiger. A really good kicker can be the difference in a couple of games a year, especially with the offensive philosophy we've seen.

No doubt. We don't win the Bama game in 2011 without Brad Wing. Was huge throughout the 2011 season.
I'm lumping kickers and punters together.

Bradley Dale is underwhelming in his work with kickers.
Posted on 8/4/15 at 7:07 pm to PeaRidgeWatash
What many folks are failing to realize is that in many cases, kickers are also punters. Just because all of the sites say he was signed as a pk doesn't mean the staff didn't sign him to take over punting duties in a couple years. Not saying this is the case, but let them do their jobs folks.

Can't believe they didn't see the sarcasm in your post

I see, you were ready to print a National Recruiting champ t-shirt.
