I’ve heard Shea Dixon, Moscona, and others say several times we need DT depth from transfer portal. Who’s gonna transfer to LSU just to backup Wingo and Maason Smith? Wouldn’t an SEC caliber tackle want to transfer somewhere he’d be the projected starter, especially any upperclassman?

DL isn’t like other positions. You need a 4-5 man rotation to keep guys fresh. Playing Wingo and Roy for 90% of the snaps again is a recipe for disaster.

We will lose a lot on the D line next year. We need to take depth players, I just don’t see a point in taking a DL with 1 year left to play.

Take young guys who can contribute multiple years.

Exactly

In 2024 you have possibly Guillory and that’s it.

There’s opportunity for a younger guy to come in and rotate behind Smith and Wingo for a season then become the guy for a year or two.

You act like BK is going to be honest with a player about their ability to start.

Wingo transferred last year and wasn't expected to start over Mason and Roy and what happened in the very first game dipshit?

You don't think every Coach in America does this? Just like players commit to other schools early to get their value up with no intention of going there.

Wingo was depth and came to LSU but he also was one who had accolades in SEC and realized he'd be like a starter here anyway in rotation. It shouldn't be difficult to convince 1-2 good DTs they're basically starters in a rotation for LSU behind Smith/Wingo. Also, 1 injury away from starting. If Roy comes back you only need 1 DT from the portal.

G5 or FCS guys that want to get more eyes perhaps. Or kids that bet on themselves. Most DTs understand that they have to rotate. You can’t push 300lb men around for 70+ snaps. You have to rest.

Wingo did what?

I said take young players, he was a young player, which is who we should take in that position.

A grad transfer on the D line would seem like a waste, in my opinion.

Wouldn't you think a coach may say, "I can't guarantee you a starting position, you will have to work for it. But if you work hard... it's a possibility, or, if you do, you could get in the 2 deep rotation?"

Not all coaches are slimeballs.

Dude there is over 1000 players in the portal. Some are going places to play day 1. Some are lucky to find teams at all.

We need players that want to compete to start and for playing time not 2 stars from other colleges that just want to come in for possible depth.

Just like preachers and politicians are out to save your soul and give you a better life? BK is here to win and make a paycheck but keep believing in rainbows and unicorns.
