If you are addressing this to me, then I will paste part of my last post:

quote:

I don't have any expectations that LSU should recruit nothing but 4* and 5* uber-talents; and I am all for recruiting kids like Fordham and others if they fill a role.

You do have to read into it a little bit, so I will re-phrase. If I don't expect LSU to recruit all 4*/5* kids, then I am NOT advocating star-gazing. If I am all for recruiting kids filling roles, then I am advocating that the coaching staff properly recruit the right kids for whatever role they see fit regardless of stars.

Crowton trying to figure how we could put our center in motion and run him out in the flats for a pass. It really wouldn't take much more shifting than what we do on every play anyway.

I've seen him play at NorthSide High School in Johns Creek and he is a really good big athlete. The staff offered on the spot at our camp.

Then why didn't other schools offer him? Its a legit concern. As Lynxcat will tell you...offers are the best ways to gauge a prospect. Sometimes schools don't offer a great player because of grades...and on very rare instances, completely under the radar.

Fordham doesn't have issues with grades...so why didn't other schools offer him? Is it really that hard to send this kid a ship offer if you think hes good enough? Just to see his interest in the school?

The thing I find most disturbing...is he doesn't even have a offer from Arkansas, which is barely a middle tier SEC school and its his home state. You'd think they'd have better evaluation resources in that area than LSU.

Judging by the way Miles has recruited his trenches on both sides of the ball and looking at his offer list...its more than reasonable to question this offer. As is a few other prospects committed now.

You're right...hes in Georgia. Don't know why I thought he was in Arkansas.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact his offer list is questionable.

Connecticut
LSU
East Carolina
Florida State
Ohio
Syracuse
UAB
UCF

Not exactly a impressive offer list and that is even if they offered as he claims. Only big offer on his list is FSU and I'm not even sure they had a real offer for him.

Dion Lewis that plays for Pitt says to go look at his offer sheet and tell him if he was good enough to play at any school in the country.Offers don't mean everything.half the offers out there are uncommitable.Only the big time guys have commitable offers from every school. Most players only have 5-10 commitable offers and i guarantee you only maybe 1-2 are from major programs. Most of the offers claimed are reported by the players.Leads to a lot of misinformation.Ask Storm johnson how many of those offers he had were commitable.

I'm sorry, but where does a 243 lb. center play in the SEC? He doesn't. Another wasted scholly, IMO.

Doesn't he have a Legacy scholarship? What I mean,is does he even count against the 85 limit, until he plays? Another thing, his reports from the OD bowl(I think) was he was the best between-the-tackles RB on his team. I knew he was fast, but I didn't expect that. He must be a heck of an athlete...

Have you even bothered checking out this year's top 20 centers? What they can bench, squat, vertical leap, size/height, 40s? Just the basic stuff.

Fordham's numbers compares pretty well with the top 20. Same with 2008 and 2007. You can search the rest.

Rival Centers

Scout Centers

I don't know if this kid can put on additional weight to play the line but the rest of his numbers look ok.

There was a tread recently on centers and weight on this board. Maybe you should check it out or just google centers.

Kid also plays DL in high school and it appears he has the size and speed to play a rush DE. Nice to have a player with some flexibility and skills, especially in areas we need.

3 star centers are hardily a wasted scholly. Four star ones are hard enough to get.

So do we want the coaching staff to decide who fits us best or do we want 3 or 4 guys that sell their opinion on the internet for $10/month to decide who we try to sign.

Seriously? The "I trust the coaches" response?

Could he be like Connor Barwin? It will be interesting to see where he really plays.

I think Scout has him in the top 7-8 C prospects so evidently our coaches aren't the only ones who have seen the potential.

Yeah, what the heck do the coaches know? I would rather have some guy watch some film hand out stars based on who waits the longest to commit

Fordham is 6-4 245. I am sure he can gain 20 pounds in a RS year. I don't know (and I bet you don't either) how much more weigh his body frame can take.

Rival's WDE 2009

He is no 3-4 DE however it is possible that he can be moved to that position. He did play some DL in high school.

awesome

1. indeed.
2. what's wrong with inviting a legacy now and then?
Tradition is a good thing, huh? The poster who suggested that in this day and age with the pummeling a coach gets for not meeting expectations and fantasies of the ticket holders and fans watching at home on TV, is missing something nice.
3. My guess is that people whose relatives played at LSU have a reality-check view of things which properly prepares them for the academics, the social and the football preparation.
I suspect and believe that Cameron and others whose family played at LSU become good citizens, and models for practice habits. Having one try-hard on a unit is a very positive model.
4. As noted, he can play TE.
6 4" 235 is plenty big enough for TE.
5. That he is WILLING to learn a new position, whether center or long snapper, may be a function of his legacy status.

When he first verbally committed he was a NO STARS. There was little or no interest outside LSU, and now, after the camp in which he played well as TE, he's been upgraded in stars.

Looks like another case of Miles being able to EVALUATE, before the whole world figured it out.
