Seems a lot of people feel good about him. What are the reasons? Not one CB is to LSU

It's our hometown recruiting analysts that feel good. Have you seen the most recent 2017 class prediction? It would be a dream to get who they predicted. We are just being optimistic.

Last year at this time we felt good about Rashan Gary and Shavar Manuel + Trayvon Mullen were locks. I'm probably missing a couple guys too

At bo point did we think we'd land Gary.

We stopped recruiting Manuel, grade problems and ended up going to JUCO anyways.

Mullen was a slight headscratcher

Yes, about as "far from a lock" as I can imagine.

False. He was in every single prediction peice for a month after he visited us unofficially twice in two weeks.

He was also in every single prediction peice until we started to back off after his dissapointing senior season started. You either didn't comprehend my post or you have a poor memory.

My point is, it's very easy to be optimistic 7 months from NSD. Last summer we thought we were going to get a couple OOS 5 stars and felt good about a lot of guys. Once December came around we weren't even in the race for some of them. We also thought we would sign atleast 28 guys, we ended up with what, 24?

That's not what he said. We thought we had a shot at Gary after those visits kind of like we think we have a shot at Akers.

I think he wanted to be THE guy and once Fulton decided on the Tigers, Mullen moved on to his next option. It always seemed like he had an eye on what the other Tiger recruits were doing.

MS kid very close to Baton Rouge. Loves the family environment. He would come in behind Guice (JR year) and expect to be the go-to RB by his SOPH year.

Feel good about this one

Exactly what I was thinking. Kid will be a stud regardless of where he plays. Like Iman Marshall from the 2015 class, he seems destined for the NFL.

Mom loves some LSU as well. I still wouldn't give it no more than 50/50. Ackers is all over the map and I will be shocked if he doesn't end up at Ole Miss. The only reason he won't is if they get hammered.

Jabbar Juluke apparently made quite an impression on Cam and has LSU in as good of a position as anyone to land him.

If he goes to State he becomes "THE BACK" immediately. At LSU he's at least behind Guice and Williams year one. By then Brossette could have come into his own plus people are mistaken if they think a guy like Edwards-helaire is a pushover or can't be the go to back in an LSU offense.

ETA: I would love it if Akers came here, but I could easily see this going a Mississippi school's way the more time he holds off committing. Even still I could see him decommitting and committing to a Miss school on NSD.

Simple as this. MacKenzie Alexander for Clemson went to the NFL and they don't have a lot of depth. They told Mullen that if he came to Clemson he would probably start on the outside as a true freshman with little competition.

I don't blame him, he certainly didn't make a bad choice. As great of a player as he is, LSU still landed two (three in the eyes of some) truly elite CBs in that class. It seems like both sides will do just fine.

I live in the city where Cam plays (Clinton, MS). I have heard since last year that he has always thought a lot of LSU. Had a family member who was a coach at the high school who told me that multiple times.

However being high on LSU and becoming a Tiger are two different things. I think we have a good shot at him but it will be up to the recruiters and coaches to put their best foot forward and try to land him. I know Bama and Ole Miss are making very hard pushes for him as well so it will come down to the wire like everyone else always does.

Every year we get someone we don't expect and lose someone we do expect. I think this will go the same way if we get him we lose someone we thought we had.

I thought Bama had kind of backed off of him a bit?
