Who has seen this guy play? My dad has seen him and really likes the kid, but I'm not so sure thats not because he's from his hometown. Plus my dad tends to pull for those small town/rural boys. Who can give us a little info? After all he if a state player, if you count that he lives in La

DT that plays for Junction City, Ark. but actually lives in La just north of Bernice. 4star... not to be rude, but anyone who could answer the question wouldn't have to ask

That was the only Byran Jones I knew but this part of your post didn't help much either: "After all he if a state player, if you count that he lives in La".
Jones is a 4* prospect; I bet your Dad thinks he's good. You made it sound like the Byran Jones you were talking about was an unknown guy.

His film on Rivals looks good. I hope he gets offered and is a Tiger.

Look around this site and you'll see almost nothing on the guy, and I'd venture to say most don't even know he's from the state... and he's the top DT from the state

Dude has some big offers. Are we even recruiting Jones? Wait does Les even know this guy exist?

He's supposed to come to the next camp.

If you offer him, he'll commit on the spot. However, I don't think he's that high up on LSU's board so if you offer it means you've missed on others. I grew up in El Dorado and that's what folks around there are tellin' me.

Rivals has him as the 22 best DT and Scout has him as the 76 best DT...Huge difference...Offer sheet is good...What gives?

Kid was State Title game MVP in Arkansas with 10 tackles 5 and a half behind the line of scrimmage

Well considering we might need 1 DT in this class, sounds like this could be our guy

My guess is it's bc Scout has no film on him.

Jones plays at Junction City High School. He is a 4* DT, that was named the state championship game MVP last year as a junior.
I have seen him play, and he does push guys around. The only knock, is that he plays in the smallest classification in Arkansas high school football. The guys are not very big, and his biggest asset at that level is his pure body mass.
Would I like to have him at Arkansas? Yes, I sure would. Would it make or break our class to hit or miss on him? Absolutely not.

Ditto for the Tigers
He is a great young man but not a program maker or breaker. But would be a great asset to any program.

I have a little inside information with Byran you could say. I don't post much though so you can take it or leave it. He has won the state title in the shot-put 3 years in a row. He set the state record for power-clean at the state weight meet this spring. Junction City has the best powerlifting program in the state of Arkansas and has won the over all State Title (Class A-7A) 3 times the past 6 years. He has long said he would love to go to LSU if given the chance. He grew up a Tiger fan and is an LA kid. I talked to him a few months back and he gave me a top three if he could go anywhere. LSU, Alabama, and Texas were his final three. He doesn't hold offers from any of those yet and right now seems to be fine with letting the process play out to see who offers. He talked with my dad yesterday afternoon and said he was going to camp and feels like if he performs well he will get an offer. There are several Hog fans up here that are constantly in his ear about being a Hog and he hasn't pulled the trigger yet, so I feel if Miles offers him he will be a Tiger. There is a connection to the LSU staff also. Coach Brick was with the Chicago Bears when Kevin Payne (starting safety for the Bears) arrived. Byran was a water boy for Junction City while Kevin was playing RB and LB with Byran's older brother blocking for him on the OL. The best thing about this is Hogville is in full melt down mode about the chance of Ar-Kansas missing out on the top 3 in state kids. Some are trying to spin it like BP will get whoever he wants so it doesn't matter, and others are pissed because the Hog faithful turned on Houston for the same thing.

Dragon, great stuff, I believe you bc that makes a lot of sense. I really hope he gets that offer. We badly need at least one bigtime DT in this class considering what we lose the next two years. Hopefully he is it.

I wouldnt say Hogville is in meltdown mode. Seems as though there are a few there stirring the pot, and have been a success somewhat.
Its a long way til signing day, and unlike years past, Arkansas has some real talent this year. What that has caused, is guys not automatically jumping on the ship from the get go. Arkansas fans are not used to having such an amount of talent in state. When we have had talent in the past, it has been one 5* athlete, and then the rest are also-rans, who are being recruited by the likes of Ar State, ULM & such.
This year, there are more 5 & 4* athletes in the state than in recent memory. The thing Arkansas fans got used to, was Nutt living and dying by Arkansas athletes. He didnt go abroad as much to find talent. He just took what the state gave him most years. Petrino isnt like that, he has his board, and he goes by that board. If he is in state, then so be it, if his need is a kid out of state, then so be it.
Its just something Hog fans are going to have to get used to. I for one dont care where the athletes come from, as long as we are bringing them in, and we are winning.
