The drama of the LSU staff wanting him started about the beginning of January if I do believe so, but it's not like we had completely ignored him up until that point, just no commitable offer on the table. They started pushing really hard about 3 weeks before NSD, but it was too late.

I know what your are saying, and I agree with it to an extent, but why pass up on a top notch guy that wants to play for you and you know will offer at a later date?

From what I've read over the last year or so...LSU could get him pretty easily..if they wanted?

I see your point. My only guess is there is a better prospect with interest that we want more than this guy and dont want to get caught up in a numbers game. Other than that im not sure. I would rather get him now and see if anything else comes along later.

he looks legit, hope he gets an offer

my guess is they have held off on offering a lot of guys who are not clear national level recruits b/c they want to evaluate them for themselves, this being a new staff and all

if he is as good as some have said here then he should get an offer when he camps here

Bingo, if this kid loves LSU as much as the OP says, then he should accept an offer no matter when he gets it.

Also signed,

Drayton Calhoun

Hey rantards, our coaching staff signed the number one recruiting class in the country last year. That should be a small clue to you that they know what they are doing when it comes to recruiting.

If there is some kid that YOU think should be chased after heavily but is not...chances are it is you who is wrong about the kid being a good prospect and not our coaching staff. Ya think?!

Hey douchebag,

We are pointing out players that certain schools thought they had in the bag because the players were supposedly lifelong fans and would accept an offer from the school no matter how late it arrived. They were proven wrong. Sometimes it benefited us...as in when we snagged Calhoun from UGA because Richt thought the kid would jump on his offer no matter when it came. Sometimes it hurt us...as in the Sentimore saga.

Now, Richt is a great coach and a great recruiter...UGA signed a top 10 class with great players. Miles is a great coach and a great recruiter...he signed what I believe is the best class in the nation. No one is saying Miles does not know what he is doing. Yet the fact is sometimes you miss on a very good player because you thought he would always come around later in the year. I, for one, would like to get those players and make our amazing recruiting classes even more kick arse.

Don't be such a homer. You can question decisions and still be a LSU fan and a Miles fan.

If we offered Bryan Jones today and he accepts tomorrow, would you be one of those guys that are pissed that we can't sign Joe 5 Star DT down the road when he later indicates that he wants to sign with LSU.

You have to take some calculated risks in recruiting to get a top class, unless of course your Mack Brown. I don't see much risk in this situation. At this stage, it is perfectly reasonable to tell a recruit that they like what they see but want to evaluate him a little longer.

Overall, given the results, Miles looks like he knows what he's doing.

If LSU offers Byran, they will be pretty tough to beat. The coaching staff at Junction City has a couple of life long LSU fans on it, and Byran has always liked the Tigers. Auburn OC Gus Malzhan and JC HC David Carpenter are good friends and they are supposed to be stopping by later to see Byran. Saban is sending the most mail and calling the most right now.
