re: Boutte & Lawson to visit UL Lafayette

Lawson should take the grayshirt offer from LSU before going to ULL. I could understand if he was going to another BCS school, but to bypass the preparation and training he would get for the NFL at LSU because he has to pay one semester out of pocket, seems like a killer in the long run. It just seems the smart move would be pay the fall tuition, get your scholy in the spring, and be set to try for the NFL where you make at least $250k/yr. Going to ULL would allow him to probably get full ride from the get go, but let's be honest, it would be an uphill battle for him to get to the NFL from there.
If I were him I'd think of that 1 semester of tuition out of pocket as an investment. Either he'll get to the NFL, another professional league, or he'll get a college degree and have the inside track on a lot of jobs in Louisiana having been a former LSU football player.
Who the frick cares if you played football at ULL when it's all said and done?

Why would he be paying for a semester of college? All he'd be doing is delaying his enrollment and starting his scholarship a semester later.

If he decides to go to ULL it won't be the end of the world. Out of courtesy, I think he is just visiting. Lafayette is only 20 minutes from his hometown. Besides, ULL is not having a good year recruiting so I would not be surprised if they are begging Boutte to visit so the coaches at ULL can tell the recruits they are after that even players of Boutte's caliber are interested in going to ULL.

I assumed he would be taking courses at a local college before enrolling at LSU. I guess he could just sit at home though.

It's a lot like the retards over here with irrational hate.
Most of those guys are talking out of their asses, fwiw. Boutte is coming visit and that's the extent of what they know. I think we have a better shot at Lawson than Boutte.

Everyone's situation is different, but I don't think his is one where he could start taking any classes until he's fully cleared.
Guys that are fully cleared that still choose to delay full time enrollment, can still go part time.

Yes.

There was one guy that basically said "look, even if he comes here, it's not some big changing of the guard event." He seemed rational, so I bet he's not well liked over there.
And from the tone of what's come out of Lawson's corner of late, I wouldn't be very surprised if he committed to yall.

I bet it's frustrating to have a coach offer you a greyshirt after you've been committed for a while.
Also, the people who keep saying that they must go to LSU if they want to get drafted are showing how little they actually know about the NFL.

It's also frustrating to the coaches that have to deal with recruits not living up to their end of the bargain academically.
With the SEC scholly rules now, we can't sign a guy that won't qualify, but we can offer him a gray shirt to give him 10 more months to get it figured out.
But him signing that LOI and not making it would frick us for a couple years.

ULL is ranked in the 90's in recruiting. You gonna tell me that's a good year? That's terrible for a school with lots of talent in it's backyard.

Look, we get that you don't know what you're talking about, you don't have to keep proving it.

95 out of 127 schools = bottom 25% of schools. Glad you think that is such a great year recruiting. No wonder why they are begging for players like Boutte to visit.

Remember when I said that most people are just talking out of their asses... yeah

Where does their budget rank out of those same 127 schools?
Posted on 2/1/13 at 3:39 pm to Bayoufightingtiger
Dude, they are ranked #2 in the Sun Belt in recruiting only because WKU has 29 committed players.
This is a good class for ULL.

That's an interesting question that I'd like to see an answer to for every school.
Scout has their class ranked 87. I don't know how recently it was updated, but I tend to think they rank ULL more accurately than other sites due to having a site publisher for ULL on their network, while the others don't.
I don't think that ULL's overall athletic budget, or recruiting budget is higher than 87th in the country.

247 and Scout have us easily listed number 1. Rivals is insignificant for us. We have 18 commitments and they want to sign a full 25 so it should get better.
