LSU's must-get recruits in 2024 | Why 5-star Colin Simmons is "dream get" | Favorite 2024 commits
Must gets in state defense
-2024 LA class is just now trying to find it's footing.
-Billy's must get in LA is Dominick McKinley. Kept Maason Smith in state, Jaquelin Roy. Sees him as that guy. Big guy on the rise. 6'5 275 pounds. Offers from the big boys in Alabama, Georgia.
-Comes from Acadiana which is a really good LSU pipeline. This is a year LSU needs DT's. Offered in January and will see his stock rise.
-another name mentioned by Shea is Melvin Hills.
-Shea's must get in state in Tylen Singleton. Made the move from Safety to LB. He's a complete LB unlike Tackett Curtis who is more a backfield pass rusher.
-Shallow spot on the roster and they really need. LSU had to go out of state last cycle and missed out on in state guys. Major need and a recruiting battle. Visited Texas A&M, TCU.
-With departure of Jess Curtis leaving LSU has a shot to get back into Many and create the new pipeline of players that could head to LSU.
Must gets in state on offense
-Moving onto the get get in state on the offensive side of the ball. Players are still trying ot find their footing.
-Billy's pick is Koby Young. He has visited LSU recently unlike Johnson who recently committed to Colorado. On3 is higher on him than other sites. They almost have him as a 4*.
-Billy says it's always good to get at least one in state WR as they usually turn out pretty well for LSU. Even in "down years" you DJ Chark, Russell Gage and they start for NFL teams .
-Last out of state WR' that made impacts for LSU were Terrance Toliver and Brandon LaFell. Maybe Jalen Parker and Jalen Brown can change that narrative.
-Shea's can't miss in state is Trey'Dez Green. 6'5 1/2 around 220. Finding his way at football and is very raw. Top prospect in two sports.
-Still developing and has been on campus for LSU basketball games. Sources say he will probably stick to football. Houston is recruiting him for both. It will be something to watch.
Dream Gets Defense out of state
-Shea's dream get is Jaylen Mbakwe. Visited LSu before the dead period. Said it felt like home. From the state of Alabama. Plays CB and is a track athlete who holds an LSU offer. 10.46 100. Elite speed and how that translates to football.
-Billy say him at Battle Miami. Super twitchy, LSU is recruiting him super hard. The staff is doing all that they can. Next step is trying to get him on an OV.
-Billy's dream out of state get of course is Collin Simmons. State record for sacks. Multiple visis to LSU. Still a position of need even though you just landed Womack.
-Simmons is like a shorter Chaisson. Could play both spots at DE. Little bit of Marcel Brooks in his pass rushing. Loves it at LSU. Will they get him? It will be all over the place. July was going to visit LSU then the next day he was at Oregon. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Oregon. Everyone will feel good about him at some point.
-Coach Cain is elite at getting these type of prospects. He has the chops to get his signature.
Dream gets on offense out of state
-Billy's dream get is Jonathan Daniels from Pensacola. He could step in after a RS and plug and be the replacement for Will Campbell..
-FSU is after him so are all the other big dogs. He is coming to visit LSU in March. Only visit set for March at this time. Brad Davis's top guy.
-This could build your OT for the future.
-Shea's pick is Ryan Wingo. Picked because LSU isn't known to be in the running for him. He has visited LSU multiple times. Connections with the staff and that area. Hankton will go out of state. Not realistic but he's the dream on offense.
Must get out of state on offense
-Shea's pick is Caden Durham and says he's playing recruiting poker with it. Louisiana doesn't have that 1-2 punch for RB in this class. The 2025 class has 4 RB's next class so Frank Wilson is set.
-LSU just needs one guy. They've hosted, they've offered. Oklahoma is the favorite and the leader.
-Only 4 offers out to RB's and it doesn't appear LSU is really in contact with them as much.
-Billy's pick for offensive must get out of state is Caleb Odom. LSU is catching his eye. LSU went into Georgia last cycle. This is a realistic option he's seeing. Doesn't appear that Georgia has offered.
-This is an offer that he really wanted and getting back to LSU to visit the campus and the staff. Must get for Billy.
Must get for defense out of state
-Billy's pick is Xavier Filsaime from McKinney. Wants to visit LSU in the spring. Oklahoma and TCU up front leaders. Dropped top 10 including LSU which he hasn't visited yet.
-Safety position for LSU they signed Kylin jackson, Ashton Stamps, Toviano, Daughtery at nickel. Still think its a position they'd like to look at. Need to find a true S. Kerry Cooks has deep ties to Dallas.
-Shea's pick is Charleston Collins from Arkansas. High IQ guy and fits the Brian Kelly mold. Visited last spring and has continuted to come to campus.
-LSU is the heavy favorite on the RPM. Barry Odom no longer at Arkansas. Ole Miss just had a coordinator change. Jamar Cain made him an early target. Speaks highly of the staff.
-Will play with his hand in the dirt. Just have to close him out this spring and summer. Earned his offer at camp. Coaches had to tell him to calm down. He was going against a good group of tackles and destroying them.
-Undersized at 6'2 1/2. Could be Matt House's Josh Allen at LSU. Strong Side DE if they can get him on board.
Favorite 2024 commit
-Shea's pick is Colin Hurley. Just 15 and reclassified. Viewed all over the place differently from different sites. So advanced with the game and mechanics.
-Excited to see his growth in 2023. Well Spoken leader who wants to be the face of the class and help recruit. Fan favorite.
-Billy's pick is Maurce Williams. Could be a LB already past the point of Kylin Jackson size. If you can land Singleton, Atkins and Williams and you're Matt House you're super happy. A&M and Colorado are going to try to flip him.
-The commits take the visits but then they are right back on twitter and very pro LSU.
-Great player but even a better commit could be Billy's top commit. Highest ranked LSU commit currently. Visited A&M then went right back to LSU.

great post
LSU seemed to have some momentum with Simmons in the fall but the word on the street is that Simmons will be a highest bidder situation. I can't see LSU pulling this off if that is the case.

I've been told that Texas boosters aren't going to lose this one.

I hope our boosters say "frick their boosters" and at the very least drive his price through the roof.

Going back on the last 10 classes, LSU has gotten at least one top 60 overall recruit from Texas in 8 of those 10 years. Only 2018 and 2020 did we not get a top 60 overall recruit from Texas, and 2018's LSU class was horrific all around.
I know that isn't data you can really point to and say, YEP, we'll do it again this year, but it is a very nice stat to give hope to the hopeless
