It's not a certainty he's even D1 player, even though some say he is. So, talking about him possibly going pro is a little premature.

I bet the SEC is close to or better than the German league (outside of the top 2 teams). But as strange as it sounds, it's his home and what's he used to. I bet many of his teammates will join the pro league as well (particularly the guys on the youth German team).
If he is good enough, LSU should absolutely recruit him, but even with an LOI in hand, there could be some complications.

I agree. Maybe his father will want him to come to the US, and hopefully LSU.

Yeah, that sounds reasonable to me.
Oddly enough, I think the GT guy stayed in the Philippines because of his dad, who now coaches there. At first I was confused as hell, but then I read the Grantland piece about how basketball is huge over there. Very interesting article about how basketball players are kings over there.
And from personal experience, all of the basketball courts in Paris are taken up by 5'3" Filipinos who shoot worse than Andre Stringer with a separated shoulder

Yeah, I didn't mean NBA v. NCAA. Low level pro ball at home....

No I just think we have different views of Trent and the progress he has made and is making. You do a very good job of presenting your view I just happen to passionately disagree based on my knowledge of basketball and what I have seen on the court.
Well said, atlhough I have done my share of bashing TJ it is based on having been with him and a few other guys when he first got hired. We all had about the same opinion of him after those sessions. I knew he would be successful his first year..it would have been hard to screw up that team fully healthy. When those guys left after his first year, the first flag for me was not attempting to sign anyone his first year, the second flag was how bad that team was with Tasmin Mitchell, Bo Spencer and Storm Warren, three good enough players to win more than they did, then all year long we heard help was on the way, then we get last years team who truly was the worst bb team I have ever seen at LSU. I have coached, refereed and been involved with bb and LSU bb for a long time, and never felt TJ was the right guy for this job. I judge coaches many different ways but the most important thing to me is how a team comes out of time outs or halftime and in both situations TJ has been less than impressive. I always thought the job Brady did here had to many highs and lows for whatever reason, but atleast every 3 years we would have something to be exited about. We had 2 of the best teams in LSU bb history in Brady's ten years. The 2000 team with Stromile was phenominal and the 2006 team was the second or third best team in the history of the program IMO, I think the 81 team was the best ever. Anyway it is truly a drag what has happened here at LSU and the buck stops with TJ, he has had ample time to "build a program". Looking at the lineup this year is not very promising, I think we will be better but not much, sorry to say. I truly think next year at this time we will be talking about the new coach. Then we can go after guys like Derrick Taylor's son.

Thanks for bringing the rant over here. We don't get enough of it over there. I'm sure they need some of it on the food board as well.

My son was at a John Brady basketball camp a few years ago and Derrick's son was probally the best there ..side note Butch Pierre has twin sons about the same age that are both really good and tall
