How did we miss out on guys like Langston Galloway, Shawn Long, and Elfrid Payton.

Yes, I know we aren't a basketball powerhouse but these guys didn't even receive offers . I know for a fact we didn't bat an eye at Long or Payton.

The fr guard at Miss St Peters is better than any guard on our roster.
Way too many misses from LA kids, it was not just Jones, it goes back to Brady and Trent.

I've been saying this all season. Peters is an excellent guard and we really missed on him.

Yeah Jones missed out on Jacob Evans also. Right here in Baton Rouge. 6'5 Point guard starts for Cincinnati. He would have been a difference maker with Simmons, Blakeney, and the rest of the crew.

We recruited Evans. We were 3rd on his list behind Cinn and USCe

Coach Jones wanted to get away from recruiting sub 6' guards anymore. His spot went to Skylar Mays. Which I don't think was a mistake.

He got Brandon Sampson instead. At the time it was a no brained. Sampson has a huge ceiling, he only hasn't had a ton of development. He was better this year but not by much.

I don't think Jones went after Evans as HARD as he should have. Yeah, Sampson ended up here ONLY after the coaching change at St. John's.

Living across the street from a family who's son is currently a SF at St. Louis Univ., and attended UHigh, I can tell you the rep from many in the AAU circles is that LSU's coaches and program is trash.....and poor, poor follow-up from initial contact. They simply do NOT recruit smart or hard.

Those are three good examples between the Trent Johnson-Johnny Jones regimes why the program's in the shape it's in when you pass/overlook (insert excuse) players that are currently playing in the NBA.

Not better than Blakeney. Remains to be seen whether he turns out better than Skyler Mays. Mays was more highly rated in high school

Its always easy to cherry pick the LA players who go out of state. You have to take into account who else was recruited in a given year, the roster makeup and sometimes coaches choose between two players or the players just want to go elsewhere.

For the record here are LA kids recruited by Brady: Stromile Swift, Torris Bright, Jermaine Williams, Collis Temple III, Brad Bridgewater, Marcus Ledoux, Brandon Bass, Glen Davis, Darrel Mitchell, Tasmin Mitchell, Garret TempleThomas Davis, Darnel Lazare , Marcus Thornton (NBA players in bold), Bo Spencer .

If you want to criticize him for LA players he did not sign then credit him for a few out of state players:

Lamont Roland, Jabari Smith, Brian Beshara, Anthony Randolph, Jaime Lloreda, Ronald Dupree

Some guy with a Madison Prep connection said that Jones spoke to the Madison Prep team and they all said he sounded like he had no idea what he was talking about and they basically decided then they weren't playing for him. Maybe with a new coach we can repair some of those relationships

The criticism of Jones is his classes lacks balance. He's overloaded at the guard position. That's a major flaw in recruiting. There's no reason to have 5-6 guards and NO bigs one Big on the roster.

It's lithe same as when Aranda told coach O, "we have more kickers on scholarship than linebackers and that has to be fixed".
