Who was the highly touted recruit that bypassed going pro to come play at LSU this year?

gonna be interesting to see who the weekend starters will be:
you don't have to rush it with Schmidt, he can progress at his own pace but he definitely can be a weekend starter this year
Shores is probably one
then you have Eyanson who is a lock to be a weekend starter
beyond that you have Anderson (who could be the lefty starter), Cowan and Mayers
Sheerin and Evans could be long relief type guys

Is he? You never know. I love Anderson's stuff.

If Schmidt isn’t a starter once he steps on the field it should be a crime. Pitchers of this caliber never see a college baseball field. LSU was blessed to land this dude.

Anderson is going to be a starter to start the year. This kid was a Top 100 (#90) prospect, but had to have TJ which kept him from pitching his Senior year. This oast year was his first time pitching since his Junior year in HS, and his rustiness showed. But, he also showed excellent stuff when he was ON that will only get better.

Thanks everyone. I'm at the age where I remember less than I forget. But I knew y'all would have the answer.

Shores was the #22 pitcher and throws 100.
Schmidt was the #5 pitcher and throws 98 with the best breaking ball in his class.
Eyanson has shown elite stuff and has done it for 2 years in college
Mayers was one of the best pitchers in American in '23.
Cowan was as reliable as it gets at Woffard.
Sheerin has crazy stuff and worked just under a starter load at MSM.
We have a shite ton of HIGH potential arms on this staff, and that includes Anderson. But, we can't just pencil Anderson into the weekend rotation because he was ranked high in HS and looked great at times last year.

At UC San Diego. I'm not saying he won't be awesome for us, but he wasn't mowing down the SEC before.

West coast baseball is extremely talented

Lots of talent in California, for sure. But my point was he wasn't facing SEC team level talent in a batting order very much, if ever. I'm not saying he isn't a great prospect, but starting 2 years at UC San Diego with a 4.3 ERA and a 3.1 ERA doesn't mean he's going to start for LSU, that's all I am saying. If he was at Tennessee or Florida with that ERA I would say he's a weekend guy for us. SEC is absurd these days.
ETA:
Was bored so I went through it. He faced 6 batters the entire year that were drafted. Hard to quickly find how he did facing them without going through box scores, but the point stands.
That said, very happy he's a Tiger and I hope he's dominant!

Two years in a row.
Kade Anderson last year.
Maybe three if you count Guidry and four if you count Crews.

Oh, I'm pretty sure he's seen one before.

And Anderson was? Kade will be a hell of a player but Eyanson has a much greater body of work to go off of thus far. Also think Eyanson's ceiling is SEC pitcher of the year; I do not have enough adjectives to describe how good he can be.
