You can’t call kwon Alexander a win but not Tim Williams
I’m not sure of the point, other than LSU’s Keon Alexander had a much better SEC career and continues to have a highly successful NFL career, whereas Tim Williams was above average for a single season in college. Tim Williams was drafted on athletic potential, not college success. I hope he has a fall back, now that he is already out of the NFL.

He was better coming out of high school

Tim Williams was drafted higher than Alexander. He had back to back 9 sack seasons at alabama. He made All SEC & All america teams. He was a good player. What are we talmbout here

Yes he was. Some fans think LSU made the bad choice with all recruits no matter what results .I have learned to read comments and
Some of our fans will never be happy . Guess it’s because it’s been so long since we have won our last national championship!

Devonta Smith not Devonta Lee. Lee is at LSU. Chris Allen has been injured do jury still out. This was a great post bud. I have wanted to put a list together as well.

I remember Chris Allen. Have no clue who the others are. Are they any good?

Look at bamas defense and you tell me. Those guys aren’t anything special
Devonta Smith is an outstanding player
The rest are solid, not elite players

I think so too. Kids been hurt. This will be year ? I think he blossoms into very good player.

How tf are you gonna include Allen when he’s going to be a starter this year and still has 2 years of eligibility?...

Some good points in this thread but I agree that Irv Smith was a very good high school prospect and I wanted us to get him at the time. Was interesting watching their basketball team at that time with him and the Swilling boys. They were pretty physical for sure.
But yes, there will always be hits and misses. But the theory that he came out of nowhere isn’t true.

He is projected to be a round 1 player. People had him as a huge breakout candidate before he tore his ACL.

Daniel Jeremiah said a lot of teams still had Moses in the 1st this past draft if he would have came out
LSU fans are such haters lol

Saban recruits some of these guys not to develop them but to keep them from us. The added depth is a bonus. It's no secret Bryant used to over-recruit to do the same to Auburn. Saban is limited in how much he can do it with today's scholarship limitations (thank goodness), but he absolutely considers it.
For instance, he can have a 5* DT from wherever who he knows will be the starter, and will take the 4* from LA for depth rather than the 4* from somewhere else because he gets his depth regardless and it forces LSU to take a 3* a little lower on their board. In essence, it doesn't hurt Alabama to under-develop out of state depth, but it does hurt his immediate competition. It's a luxury he has by being able to attract almost anybody he wants.
One thing that resonated when Orgeron was hired was that he was going to "flip the script" on recruiting. I think he's well on his way to doing that. There's been fewer misses the last couple years. We're definitely bringing in more elite out of state talent. Now let's hope we continue to lock up the 4 or 5 must gets in-state. If we continue to keep the Roys, Guillorys, and Maason Smiths from leaving, there will be no more 8 year skids.

Exactly. Jeremiah is one of the best in the business so I believe it.

Tim Williams was pretty good as was Shyheim carter
NFL teams didn't feel Shyheim Carter was worth wasting a a draft pick on last month. Meanwhile, the Miami Dolphins used a pick on a long snapper from LSU in the 6th round. But hey, you never have enough DB's right? The Dolphins could have picked up Carter in the 7th round. Nah, they'd rather use that pick on a 5'9 running QB they plan to turn into a WR.

Doesn’t mean he wasn’t a good college player
Played in 50 games, made 23 starts
Won a national title, played in 2 others

He played because they didn’t have anyone better to play ahead of him. Outside of Minkah, bama has struggled with DB production the past few years.
